Friday Morning

Well Thursday found the area with some much needed rain, while it wasn't any deluge the gentle rain quickly found it way into the hard packed soil and the grass almost immediately showed its colors. The garden perked up as well and I now have lots of small green teardrop tomato's set with tons of blooms. I did harvest some kale and beet greens along with some sweet basil for a salad. I decided to work in the basement trying mend a broken rocking chair. I had to bend a piece of wood to the curve of the bottom rocker and then I will reinforce it with wood screws. It was an old rocker given to me by my "mountain mom" Helen and I find it most comfortable for the back porch.

The rain quit and the sun peaked through the clouds so I fired up the chainsaw and proceeded to cut up wood for the next stump burning on Monday. I was amazed at how much wood I used to burn that stump out but it was successful to say the least and I filled in the hole later in the day.  We decided to take a hike down off of our mountain and visited with Grant and Shirley as we learned they were up for a day or so. We hadn't seen or spoke with this summer as he is still working and rarely gets up to his beautiful place. It was an easy hike down to their place but a good workout on the way back. It was going 2 o'clock when we got back so we decided to eat our big meal as I had a pickle ball match at 7. I grilled a couple of frozen hamburgers and Nancy sautéed the rest of the squashes with dill, yeow that is one tasty dish and sort of reminds me of zucchini pie in flavor. The dill weed makes is the key.

I decided to chill after eating as it came up another rain shower and the temps dropped down into the middle 60's. I started a new book THE LONGEST WALK and wow it's a good read with two stories going at once. I'm curious as to where the two intertwine. I'm about half way through as I read before lights out. We had 4 players at pickle ball and we played the best of 5 sets with each player so that meant I played 12 sets. We all were soaked despite playing under the lights in the cool evening temps. It was close to 9 before I got back to the cabin and the deer and rabbits were everywhere especially on and alongside the roadway. I nearly creamed a fast moving deer as it darted across the road.

Well that was about it for the day. Bobby called just as I got home and he now has his own place so he can bring Annsley and Gabriel when it's his turn to have them. The situation with Jill is not very cooperative to say the least. We are heart broken this occurred to what we thought was a beautiful family but one never knows what goes on inside the walls of a house. We just hope they both consider the children as it no longer is about them but about Annsley and Gabriel, LATER
