Well Sunday was an awesome day of worship and rest after a busy week. We watched our Bridgepoint Church service on line while getting ready for our mountain church family at Cornerstone in Sparta. We love both venues and while the styles are a bit different the folks at both gatherings make us feel so welcome. We met up with Mechelle and Caleb for lunch afterwards at the best salad bar in town the Pizzeria.
I started the day much the usual with a before 6 roll out to my customary cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric and a slice of fresh raw ginger while I posted this ramble and spent some quiet moments with my Creator in thanksgiving and intercessory prayer for several. All seems well with those I daily lift up. Afterwards I headed out to check on the gardens and flower beds for slugs as the wet weather seems to have brought them out of the ground. I killed several and one large breeder as they can destroy a plant over night with their voracious appetite. We got several down pours overnight and the rain gauge showed nearly a half inch.
We got ready and headed out around 9:30 for the trip to Sparta. Pastor B had a good sermon but he needs to shorten his announcements as he repeats and is quite redundant at times. We did get out around 11:30 for a change instead of noon. We watch Bridgepoint and they at the most are an hour including the message, 3-4 songs and announcements, oh well. We love the folks at both places but do serve one or both services at Bridgepoint in some capacity which makes for the morning to go quickly.
We had a delicious lunch of salad and pizza and then headed out to shop for a few goodies at the other grocery in town called Grants which took over the old Lowes grocery. Our neighbor Carol works there and has moved up to grocery manager. She is such a hoot and will talk your ear off. We loaded up once again with some goodies for the 4th celebration and cook out here at the cabin on Wednesday. I got the Ray's game on the internet which is almost like watching it live except the figures are animated but the action is happening live. They won again and are now above 500 ball but still several games back of the Yanks and the Red Sox but they are playing good ball with some no mane rookies.
We took off on a hike to the top of the mountain and saw old friends John and Shirley who we hadn't seen in years at their cabin. They both had some serious health issues but seem to have overcome them as well as can be expected for their ages. Across from their cabin we saw another couple of couples who we haven't seen since they sold out their cabin a couple years ago. It was like old home week and then we walked further across the top and saw our friend Eddie Harris who was up working on his house with excellent views who owns a leather and silver works shop down off the mountain. Wow it was so good to see all of these folks after nearly a couple years for some.
We got back down off the top and I piddled around outside while Nancy made a cake for Monday nights upper at the Luffman's farm where we will go to help with the girls who come for their horse care weekly event. Mechelle has young girls in for instruction of horse care as well as some riding instructions. I settled into getting the garbage ready to take to the dump on Monday when we head over to the farm which is near town. We will try to make as many stops as possible with one at the library, grocery again before heading to the farm and then supper afterwards.
We skipped supper after the large lunch so I popped some corn and we settled into the Dr.Pol show on Nat Geo for the next couple of hours until it was shower time for me around 9'is. I read for an hour until the sandman calleth around 10'ish, LATER
