Well its close to 11 and our company just left for their trip back to Woodstock, Va., It was a grand time as is always with baby sister Dee and Mike and their cute pup Sophie. She is a hoot and they love her dearly and she got to run, leash free the whole time here. We got in a 1mile and half hike two mornings in a row and she chased rabbits and the sound of a deer in the woods. Yesterday we headed over or down to West Jefferson for a visit; first on the BR Parkway and then back up the twisty road on 221. We had a delicious lunch in town at the place we ate 3 years ago called the New River Brewery and I had the smoked brisket plate with tatter salad and Cole slaw and a nice portion of the meat. Nancy brought some of her pulled pork plate home and I finished it off this morning as I hadn't eaten anything since yesterday at lunch time.
We made a stop at the cheese place in town and brought back several items as well. We all played hand, knee and foot after getting home and the guys won the rubber match despite the gals winning all the Euchre matches; 2-1 each time. On a sad note Nancy's sisters husband Gus was taken to the hospital during the night with stroke symptoms and he was given the shot to save him and is recouping in the hospital at this time.
Well we are company free for about a week and a half so its time to get ready for Sheri and Steve to come up in a few days and then Dan and Carol for about 10 days and then after they leave we will start locking up the place for the winter and leave here on Nov 2nd, a Sunday morning. We did see lots of Fall colors in the trees along the parkway and got a little rain last evening to settle the dust, LATER
