Wednesday Morning July 26th

Well Tuesday was a another nice day with great weather and mild temps except for a brief 5 minute sun shower around supper time. We had the windows and doors open until dusk when we shut all and turned the a/c on despite it still being nice outside. Nancy doesn't like the windows open at night as she is still bear afraid, oh well.

I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my routines that start with some quiet time to honor my LORD, give thanks for another day and lift up several by name for comfort and healing. All seem as well as can be expected due to ages and health issues. I checked the gardens and saw where that lone big buck was into the back yard garden and this time he munched on several lettuce seedlings and a few flower plants before moving on through the beds leaving his large hoof prints. I'm thankful he hasn't developed a taste for the other leafy greens growing in that same bed.

I did some piddly inside jobs like cleaning the drain to the shower which is always interesting with hair that causes it to slowly drain and then some outside small chores like digging thistles that some how find a way to get into the yards. The birds love thistle seeds and I think they spread them to sprout up anywhere they decided to poop while flying over the property. I did finish separating my garlic bulbs and now have a couple pounds or more of kernels to use this coming year. I try to eat garlic daily as its a super food. Nancy had clothes drying outside on the line which is always a down home memory. We were supposed to take a hike up the mountain but it soon warmed up when we were ready to go and thus we postponed until later after supper; but I got caught up in the Ray's game and Nancy on her Ipad and we forgot until too late.

I sauteed peppers and onions in a frying pan on the outside grill and had brats on the grill for supper which were delicious. I headed out to check on the gardens after supper and the cleanup while Nancy checked on our "mountain mom", all looked well. I have cukes finally maturing and will have at least one ready for the table today. No tomato's yet but the jalapeno peppers are starting to really produce. Our neighbor widow on top of the mountain called and wanted us to check her neighbors squash plants for her as its too steep for her to navigate. I headed up in the golf cart to check but the squashes were to small to harvest. She wanted to know if I knew anyone who would do a small painting job for her and I decided I could paint the two upstairs outside windows from the inside. I'll do that this morning for her. I took her a sack of kale for her and her sister who lives just across the way from us.

Well that was about it for the day as the Ray's bats finally came to life and they beat the Marlins 4-1 at the Trop. I soon hit the showers and was ready for some horizontal lab by 10'ish, LATER
