Sunday Morning Sept 6th

Well we have been showing the Nymarks our beautiful part of the mountains, the small but quaint towns and of course the views from the Blue Ridge Parkway. I must say this area is just such a beautiful part of God's creation. We even visited with one of their former youth's from their church in Florida yesterday at a Mexican eatery in Jefferson. She has relocated to this area as well as has her mom and dad. The food was delicious to say the least and very reasonable.

I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish rollout to a cup of hot green tea which was great for this chilly morning of 58, yeow its a Florida winter morning to say the least. The skies were blue with no humidity which made if feel even cooler. The sun was bright and there was a gentle breeze. We had a light breakfast after my quiet times and Steve and I took an early morning abbreviated hike up the two steep trails to almost the top to get the juices flowing. While he is 5 years younger he is in excellent health and almost runs up those steep trails while I keep moving, I'm slowing down on the run  up the trails. I'm sill carrying a few extra pounds around the spare tire which holds you back.

We had oatmeal with fruit because we were meeting a dear friend of ours and theirs in Jefferson for lunch. We are learning many of our friends from Indian Rocks were also their friends when they attended that huge church where our kids attended school. Sammie was in Bobby's class from 1st grade on and we have kept in touch over the years and she was in the Nymarks youth group at church for years. Her dad Charlie Martin was the lead pastor there for years and he too now has another church here in the mountains as does Sammie's husband Steve who pastors a church in Jefferson. It was a great visit and we never stopped catching up for over an hour of fine eatin'. We framed around Jefferson and then West Jefferson which is such a cute quaint town with so many shoppes. There was outside dining in front of many eateries and I purchased a pair of hiking shoes which I needed. We tried the cheese factory but it was filled with shoppers as so many folks were there celebrating this holiday weekend and the beautiful weather.

We made a stop in Glendale Springs to see the fresco's at the church there. This was a living size of the Last Supper fresco in this little church which still has Sunday services. We decided to skip going through Sparta and came back up the parkway which was such a beautiful drive. We got back and decided to take our hike to the top of the mountain before we ate anything for supper which we basically skipped except for some corn popped the old fashion way using leftover bacon grease. We heard about using bacon grease on the radio and it was delicious to say the least. We sat on the porch with a glass of the fruit of the vine before deciding to play a game of domino's which Nancy crushed us in. It was the first time for the Nymark's to play "chickenfoot" and they soon caught on and played quite well beating me out at the end.

Well it was close to 10 so I hit the showers and then soon was ready for some horizontal lab, LATER
