Monday Morning... July 1st

Well its definitely summer time in the mountains after a very nice start with temps in the high 60's but by late afternoon we saw the high 80's and while in Galax, Va. a nice rain which we now could use a little. I had to hand water the gardens with the garden hose for a change which usually doesn't happen due to the clay soil holding moisture but the wind and the sunshine really dried things out. We had an awesome day of worship at Cornerstone then lunch out at the Mexican eatery as it was our dear friend Kay's birthday and the final meal with Caleb before he leaves the mountain for the USAF. It also was a mixed day of emotions as Jake and Kathlyn attended the service since their baby Finnley passed away after 10 days of life. There were lots of tears and hugs.

I started the day with a before 6 rollout to my usual routines that start with the cup of green tea laced turmeric and ginger while I posted this ramble and then spent some quiet moments with my Creator lifting several up by name. Most everyone is doing well despite some advanced ages and conditions related to prior injuries. We listened to our home church Bridgepoint on line until it was time to head out to our local church. I finished listening to the message last evening before bed time and Tim's message is a must. Check out bridgepointfl.com. We met up with several for lunch and saw several from church there as well. Afterwards we met Kay at her garden and she blessed us with fresh lettuces, both yellow and zucchini squashes and onions. We headed home after  couple of more stops at Walgreens and the meat store.

We decided since we were having a delivery this Monday morning of the new beds for each room upstairs to run another errand to Galax, Va. for basement floor paint plus Nancy had another long list of necessities. We also filled up at 2.22 a gallon. It was in the 90's in Galax which is somewhat lower in elevation than where we are located. We got back to the cabin around 5 and decided to get in our hike for the day. We were walking across the top when we spotted a large doe eating along side the road and before Nancy could get a picture it headed off into the woods. This doe was one of the largest I've ever seen on the mountain and at first I thought it must be a buck. We continued on across when a black car approached us from the rear and never stopped continuing on towards the end of the road where the Browning's use to live.

We thought it was the folks who bought Joe and Jettas house and sure enough as we approached the house a woman came out onto the porch and we identified ourselves as the one who closed the window and turned off the fan that was on at a high rate a few weeks ago. We also mentioned we had picked the black raspberries and would bring her a jar. She mentioned they were no longer interested in keeping the cabin and was placing it on the market tomorrow after purchasing it the first of this year. She mentioned she was 77 and no longer had the desire to keep the place up as they have another home in Wilmington, N.C. along the coast . So if anyone is interested let me know about a buying a mountain place.

Well I piddled around in the yards until dark then headed down to the basement to vacuum the floor once again and give about 2/3 of the floor a coat of lockdown primer which helps to hold the paint to the concrete floor. I'll give that area a coat of paint today and then a coat of sealer after it dries for a couple of days. I want to finish that project before the kids arrive on the 10th. I headed for the shower just before 10 and it was lights out for me, LATER
