Saturday Morning in Truckee,Ca.

Well Friday turned out to be just a beautiful warm day after another chilly morning that greeted us with temps into the 30's and by late afternoon we had the windows and doors open and were wearing shorts and t-shirts. The skies were a Carolina Blue with bright sunshine and just so inviting to be outdoors that some of us took not just one hike but two. We had some of Patrick's family over for a delicious luncheon and then some card games afterwards while sitting outside on the deck.

I started the morning with my usual roll out a little before 6 and was able to get my morning routines of a few quiet moments and the posting of this ramble before anyone else awakened. I'm finally getting use to this time difference all except for the football games that come on early here in the mountains and we are now eating a few hours earlier than when we first arrived a week ago. Where has this time gone. We didn't leave the cabin today except for two very long hikes one of which was over an hour. The roads here in this division have some gradual up and down movement so we did get a little cardio exercise, especially after the sumptuous lunch around 1 PM of cold cuts, salads, baked beans and then an awesome cheesecake with a blueberry topping that Kathryn put together.

We met one of Megan and Jim's sons, Kevin. He flew in from New York where he and his wife are both attorney's but she had to work so we never met Amber. They came in for the weekend to celebrate with their other son, Scott and his family. He and his wife are here from Salt Lake City to gather with all of the family for the first birthday for Meg and Jim's first grand child. What a grand time that will be for all. We had a super visit with Kevin and he is quite the card player as well. We taught Meg and Jim the game of Euchre and Golf and Kevin was familiar with both games and even taught us a different version of the Golf game that we later played for most of the evening after supper. We took another hike after they left somewhere around 5'ish.

Kathryn had a pot of taco soup simmering for supper as we ate light. Afterwards we got into the new Golf game and played several rounds with Kathryn wiping the floor with us this time. Carol had earlier won the first game with the new version Kevin taught us, so it was a ladies day of victories especially after the beating they took a couple days ago from us guys. We did manage to watch a little of the FSU vs Boston College game on the tube while playing and learned later the Seminoles won in a close game by just two TD's. Well that was about all the exciting news for a Friday here in California as the rain the past couple of days have dampen the wild fires near us so we don't smell any smoke in the air, LATER    We did get to sing Happy Birthday to Gabe, our grandson number two back in Brandon, Florida as he celebrated his 5th birthday and where did that time go??
