Wednesday Morning August 14th

Well Tuesday was a rainy day to start the morning with a chill in the air and it really stayed that way except for small periods of sunshine and by late afternoon the skies cleared. I didn't do much except pick blueberries and some small garden projects. I harvested some fresh kale for Nancy's pot of zuppa which we had for supper. Mainly I read and watched You Tube on the internet.

I had started the day with my usual before 6 roll out to my routines that first begin with some quiet times to honor my lord, Jesus, give thanks for another day and to lift up several for comfort and healing. All are holding but we have two on my list that are having surgery this Friday. Keep Billy and Anne in your thoughts and prayers as he is having open heart surgery and she is have a knee replacement, yikes on both. Everyone else is holding. I did do my morning stretches before walking around the yards and checking on the gardens. I harvested a couple more yellow squashes and finally a tomato that had ripen enough to pick. I now noticed a couple more starting to turn as well, thankfully. Some are huge and still green.

The radishes are up from seeds and I transplanted 6 black seeded Simpson lettuce seedlings into pots. They are quick to germinate and add such color to the salad bowl. I have beets ready for the pot as well as they are tennis ball size. Since we got that nice rain last week every thing looks great and the flowers are making a beautiful come back. I did pick another quart or so of blueberries from The Taylor place as well as from my bushes which are loaded and just starting to ripen. I'll be giving away more this weekend as well as freezing them for cobbler later in the summer, plus I'm eating them in my oatmeal a couple times a week.

Well not much else is going on except Anne and Frank came by and brought me some hollyhock seeds to dry and sow next year in one of the flower beds. They sure are a beautiful flower when in bloom. I tuned into the Ray's game on the laptop after supper and they lost a game they should have won but no, by a single run after having the bases loaded, oh well. Its not looking good for the playoffs this year. They did have a good turnout despite playing in St.Pete at the Trop which isn't a crowd drawer. It seems they are going to build a new stadium which I think is ridiculous to say the least on the same grounds.

Today we head down off the mountain to Elkin and take lunch to our "mountain mom" and then shop at Wal Mart and Lowes for a few items before heading back in the afternoon. The grandkids in the Ross Family started school yesterday at Keswick and the Triplett grands in Brandon start next week. The twins are growing and getting ready for T-ball once again and have been practicing their throwing and hitting. It hard to believe, but we are over half way through our stay at the cabin this summer and have about 9 weeks to go before packing up for winter and heading back to Florida, LATER
