Well Friday was a stay on the mountain kind of day except for a hike to the top, we never left the cabin and the yards. Rain came once again in the afternoon and evening and mostly all night long and is doing so this morning. It's totally wet, damp and much cooler. I did some clean up work around the yards and surrounding area hauling 5 golf cart loads of downed tree limbs and debris from the winter ice storm to the burn pile which is in the gully by the backwoods garden. I'll burn it later on when the temps drop. I did harvest s a couple more cherry tomato's for the salad bowl and three more zucchini's for our delicious supper and on a sad note the deer got into the October bean and ate all of the vines over night as they were starting to bloom. I have a patch below the deck where I use to grow my garlic and they destroyed the vines eating them all most bare, oh well. I didn't have an extra device for that area so maybe that would have helped to keep them out. Too late this year for them to come back as the roots re still there.
I started the day much the usual with a before 6 rollout to my routines that begin with some quiet time to honor my lord, Jesus, give thanks for another day and to lift up several by name for comfort and healing. All seem to be holding how ever our dear friend and neighbor Grant is having more health issues. So keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I did my morning perusal of the internet news and social media responses then headed out to stretch on the back porch before heading out to find the deer damage to the bean patch, everything else looked good thus far except them and I wasn't thrilled. Two of the devices are now not working so I wouldn't recommend this company's devices again. Seems they all worked for a while then just wouldn't turn on, oh well.
I fired up the golf cart and starting loading it up with large limbs from several areas in the surrounding the yards where I mow the grasses and spent a good couple hours cleaning up several downed tree limbs, some as large around as your thigh, thankfully Jake had sawed them up to where they were small enough I could handle them. I sure worked up a sweat with this chore. It was going on noon and Nancy wanted to get in a hike to the top of the mountain which I'm proud of her wanting to do that climb. She has been sedentary for too long. We made the hike although with several stops for her and walked across most of the top before heading back down the steep trail. The bugs were out in force so I kept a small switch handy to swatted them away.
I skipped lunch except for an apple as I had cereal with blueberries, pecans and banana to start the day as I'm trying to drop an ounce or two from this spare tire. Our supper was one of the best tasting ever, using my home grown zucchini's for boats of ground meat and spices with a red sauce together with garlic pasta, yikes was that ever delicious and enough leftover for another meal. After the clean up I ventured out to turn on the devices which I keep off during the day to help with the solar recharge before the rains came once again. We had started and played a couple hand, knee and foot card games during the afternoon due to rain and then finished up one after supper. I tuned into the Ray's game and they were losing big time in the final innings before I hit the shower and then got ready for some horizontal lab around 10:30, LATER
