Well after a day of food and fun it was back to work on Tuesday that found me finishing up the painting job on the cabin and then some garden work. It did get rather warm in the afternoon so around 3'ish I settled in with a book on the back porch and read until supper time.
The day started much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my vit's and supplements washed down with a cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric and ginger while I posted this ramble and then spent a few quiet moments with my Creator in thanksgiving and lifting up several by name. All are well as can be expected and even our "mountain mom" is on the mend at 90 for which we are ever so thankful. I did my own breakfast as Nancy was sleeping in and I wanted to get started early on the garden chores while the roof was drying before I attempted to get up there and paint the dormer. Once the roof dries from the dew its a piece of cake as I made an extension for the roller and that helped with the painting the fascia boards.
I spaded up part of the upper garden and removed the last of the lettuces which had gone to seed and then loaded up the golf cart which a load of compost and worked that in before resowing that area. I put in a row of beets, kale and Swiss chard all of which we add to our salads and are cool weather plants. I hoping to take most of these that will become seedlings back to Florida with me in Nov and replant in my winter garden there to get a head start for that garden.
After a light lunch of just salsa and chips because of a large breakfast of eggs, brats and a cut up tomato with a jalapeno pepper and some of the left over bread with apple butter I headed back out to paint the the front of the shed which was starting to fade plus I had some stain that needed using from the dormer as well as paint the fascia boards along the porches using my long handled extension. This really works and makes it so much easier than using a ladder on the side of the hill which sometimes is a bit unsteady. It was now time to cool off in the basement and clean up brushes and rollers.
I grilled some peppers and onions and Nancy deboned some of the smoked chicken and we had fajitas and corn on the cob for our supper yeow, the smoked chicken was excellent along with some of the salsa on top with sour cream. After the cleanup we settled into the Fox News and watched the Dem's once again make a circus out of the hearings for the new appointee to the Supreme Court. I've never seen such grandstanding and loathing shown by the libs for a very well qualified candidate just because our Potus choose him and he represents the real America with his love for family, God and the constitution. I listened to his talk before the senators excoriated him for absolutely no reason and it was an embarrassment to see them run for political office at this man's expense. The radical left is doing all they can to disqualify anyone who loves this nation and our duly elected POTUS Trump. Disgraceful and makes me livid to say the least, Oh well, LATER
