Well Wednesday started with an unusual wake up for me which was nearly 7:30 as that tree stump must have really whipped me the day before. I worked on those roots for 1/2 a day on Wednesday and still wasn't able to remove it from the ground while pulling on it with Gerald's tractor. This tree has some big roots and today will be my last chance to use the tractor as he leaves for Blacksburg so I will have to use a hand winch or just burn it out which requires more effort and constant attention. I just want it out so I can even out the ground and plant grass seed, oh well.
The first part of the day was devoted to stump removal after my usual morning routines that started an hour later. I did my quiet moments and then ate a lite breakfast of oatmeal, cinnamon, honey and blueberries after posting this ramble. It had rained off and on during the night and everything was wet and the humidity was nearly a 100%. We had periods of rain, sunshine and clouds throughout the day and by late evening thunder storms were once again upon us. We had to take our pickle ball play inside at the church due to the weather as well.
We never got a hike in today as the periods of rain were unpredictable plus I was working in the stump hole all morning and after two different tries with the tractor gave up for the day. I must have shed 5 pounds as the sweat poured off me with the digging ,chopping and sawing of these hard to get at roots deep in the hard rocky ground. Wow did I ever get a workout and that dang tree stump is still firmly in the ground looking at me as I write this ramble. What a challenge this one has become, oh well today is the day it will become history, I hope.
Well we had 5 players for pickle ball and Gerald joined us for the first time since his knee replacement 6 months ago. He did quite well and never seemed to have lost any of his skill despite being away for so long. We worked up a good sweat with lots of rallies and after nearly 2 hours we headed out for the cabins. Nancy was at the High Meadows Country Club for their monthly sit down dinner with lots of the local women. These gals whom many were or still are doctors, dentists, lawyers, artists, authors, bed and breakfast owners and house wives of men who were professionals. We weren't quite sure how she got invited to this group but she thoroughly enjoyed herself and it was after 9 before she got home. Mechelle our friend who manages a huge farming enterprise that raises Christmas trees and beef cattle here in the county invited her and she was warmly received by many of the gals who range in age from the 30's to the 80's.
Well after getting back to the cabin it was time for a hot shower and then a few minutes of the Fox News channel with what is happening to our nation. Once again we are finally seeing what corruption has been occurring with our leaders in this administration as they and our potus sell us out to a country that chants death to us with back room deals that guarantee them the means to acquire nukes to bomb us with and the funds needed to purchase the missiles from Russia to deliver them to our soil. They must be laughing at our inept leaders and now we know our own Secretary of State who some think would make a great woman president has let money buy her influence in foreign affairs as well as made our secrets available to those want to destroy us and our way of life.
