Monday Morning July5th

Well Sunday was another chilly morning to start, with temps in the middle 50's but it soon warmed up to the middle 70's by late afternoon which made for pleasant hiking and some porch setting after getting back from Cornerstone and then the Pizzeria for lunch. We did get in a nice hike around 4'ish together to the top of the mountain and then we took the golf cart up to pick another couple quarts of black raspberries. We saw and stopped to chat with our good friend and Surry County commissioner Eddie Harris who owns a man cave house on top. He really sparks some nationwide talk about this "woke" attitude by the radical dems when he ordered all of the Coca cola machines to be taken out of county building in his county. He was even interviewed by Fox news and Newsmax and as far away as England's news about his decision to stand up against these who are doing their best to destroy our culture and history. He fired the first shot and has been excoriated by the Left and the "woke mob" in the MSM.

I started the day with my usual before 6 roll out to my routines of a cup of green tea while I post this blog and then some quiet time with my Creator and Lord giving thanks and lifting several up for comfort and healing. All are holding at this point in time. I did my non stop morning hike before a breakfast of left over pancake and cantaloupe and the hike was exhilarating to say the least. The fresh crisp morning air and the woods smell was so invigorating and peaceful with a few birds were singing. The dew was  dripping off the roof.

We got ready and headed out to Cornerstone around 9:30 where our Pastor B was back from his family trip to Las Vegas to visit his daughter and husband. He had 9 in the van for the over 2 K mile one way trip. It was really hot there with triple digit temps for most of their stay. He said there is nothing like the green in the Blue Ridge Mountains of N.C. We met up with Jake, Katelyn and Skylar who is starting to walk and just so dad gum cute. She comes to me right away and I took her around the church before service starts which just takes everyone by surprise, especially Nancy. Ryder and Huck do the same thing as they pass up Nancy when I'm around; I love it.

We came back and I found the guy who spoke to me on Friday Night at the event in Sparta whose dad was an FHP Trooper along with myself. He has a place out near Farmers Fish Camp and we chatted for close to 30 minutes before he had to pick up family tubing down the New River. We are hoping to get together some time this summer for a set down meeting. We shared some of our stories. He is a grand father as well and served his country while in the Navy. His younger brother was also a service man in the USAF.

We got invited down to neighbor Gerald's and now his partner Phylis for a cook out this evening (mon) along with another couple we haven't met yet. He is smoking a pork butt and Nancy offered a mixed veggie casserole as well as fresh homemade black raspberry cobbler. I'll take the Sequence game as well and we will celebrate the 4th, LATER
