Well I must say June left us with some rather warm weather even for here in the mountains. We saw 86 on the truck thermometer when we headed to Sparta around 4:30 to meet us with some friends for a supper at the Bistro; formerly the Mustard Seed. The morning was beautiful as we shut the /c off and enjoyed the cool fresh morning with temps in the 60's. Oh My.
Well Saturday started out much the usual for me as I rolled out before 6'ish while Nancy slept in until nearly 8. I hit the sack by 10'ish at night and Nancy is up until sometime midnight flipping channels or so she says. Her snoring awakens me usually around 4 and I have a difficult time getting back to sleep but manage to lay there for another hour or so, oh well. Maybe its time for Zyppa. I love their commercials. We had a "mountain breakfast" which held us until supper around 5:30 of smoked hickory bacon, farm raised free range eggs, grits, toast and homemade jam I added a fresh jalapeno pepper to mine and it was delicious to say the least and our supper was a broccoli salad with a club sandwich for me and a wrap for Nancy. We met up with the Luffman's and Dalton's for a round table group of 10 where we celebrated Kay's 74 birthday. We embarrassed her by singing the song as well.
I worked in the yards and gardens for most of the morning while Nancy got two loads of laundry out on the clothesline to dry in the morning and afternoon sun. We kept the a/c off until around 3'ish when it started to heat the cabin to close to 80. Nancy just can not take the heat and humidity as she is still suffering from the poison rash on now several parts of her body. She is on her second dose of prednisone which is giving her some relief as well as calamine lotion we picked up while in town today. The high powered lotion we bought the other day only made the rash worst. We should have used the old fashion methods of alcohol, vinegar and baking soda to stop the itch. I learned you must do away with the oil from the plant that gets on you and your clothing by washing up really well with soap to rid the active oil.
I rearranged the under the back porch where I store the kayaks in the summer due to having the a/c compressor there. I finished up in the basement which is cool at 65 degrees so I did a few small projects there during the hot afternoon which refreshes you after a short time. That is my a/c relief as I hate to be couped up inside with the windows closed. I did manage an hour on the back porch before heading out to Sparta to read and cat nap in the rocking chair. After supper we made a Food Lion stop for spare ribs and some other specials on sale for the 4th celebration coming this week. We are having several out to the cabin for food and corn hole and possibly some Sequence. All is well with those I lift up daily as we speak with our "mountain mom", Nancy's mom GG and of course our kiddos and grand babies. I haven't heard anything from Paw Paw in a couple days but no news is good news.
Well today is Sunday and a day of rest but I'm missing the gang of volunteers who every Sunday morning at 6 AM meet at the local college for the load in for Bridgepoint Church in Seminole, Fl. It's a big job but I so enjoyed all who made this venue great for helping folks get closer to GOD. Take time out of this day to worship, give back a small portion and hug lots of necks as each of us has a story to tell and maybe be an inspiration to others, LATER
