Well Monday was almost another picture perfect day as there was an abundant of sunshine and warmer than yesterday's temps. The wind had the leaves flying through the air and now there is quite an accumulation of leaves on the ground. I had the smoker going with 2 racks of spare ribs using apple wood. Nancy took the in-laws into Sparta after lunch for some shopping.
We started the day with a hearty mountain breakfast of buckwheat cakes with a banana in the batter and fried cackleberries. After the cleanup we headed out to the top of the mountain on a hike. It was another clear day with visibility all the way to Winston-Salem. The woods and trails were really filling up with the fallen leaves.
After everyone left for the afternoon I headed down to see Gerald and we tried to get the rotor tiller to run but to no avail. I then decided to read until everyone came back from town. The ribs were perfect after smoking then for about 7 hours as was the squash casserole and corn muffins with jalapeno in the batter and a fresh garden salad. We then got into a hotly contested game of 5 Crowns with Betsy winning almost every hand. It wasn't long until it was bedtime after a hot shower, LATER
