Well Tuesday saw us with overcast skies and a sprinkle of rain at times until late evening when we got a lite shower but it stayed wet and damp outside except for an occasional glimpse of the sun. Wow has it been a wet September which is rather odd to close out the summer and very dry for the start.
I piddled around in the basement painting the century old swing and working on some fishing tackle as it was just too wet to do much of anything outside after my quiet time and the posting of this ramble. We did get in our mid morning hike to the top of the mountain and only saw Rex, Norm's neighbor and chatted with him for a few moments. Norm is about the same according to Rex and his son's were up to see him for just a few minutes on Saturday and then left him to pretty much fend for himself or for the neighbors to assist him. Norm has stopped taking his medicines and Rex said he seems a little stronger and better but with congestive heart failure that looks like he is willingly giving up.
We did see a rather large crane and a crew of workers installing additions to one of the cell phone towers on top of the mountain. Wow were those men in the clouds at times as the ceiling was quite low. The sun did appear from time to time and Nancy wanted to get some pictures so after our hike we came back on the golf cart and shot a few scenes. It was then close to lunch time so we dined on sardines, onions, mustard and crackers. Yum as this is one of our favorite lunches. Afterwards I headed back down in the basement to give the under side of the swing a coat of paint.
There wasn't much to do in the garden as it was so wet and muddy so I sat on the porch and read until it was time to grill a couple bone-in pork chops loaded with fresh rosemary and some Canadian seasonings for supper. Yeow did that ever go along with fresh mushrooms and broccoli over some Jasmine rice. After the clean up I got ready for some pickle ball at Roaring Gap. We had 5 players and the break every 4th game was a life saver as we played hard for nearly 2 and half hours. We got a little drizzle on us at times but not enough to stop on the non-skid surface of the court. We had some great play and rather long rallies. The play of these relatively newcomers has improved so much they all are now tournament players.
It wasn't long after getting dropped off by neighbor Gerald from pickle ball that I was in the hot shower and then curled up with a new Sandra Brown book, LATER Here are a few pics from yesterday and last week. Sister Dee is sacked out and so was the dog, Bonnie until she heard the camera shutter then came instantly awake as by the whites of her eyes. That white toad stool was the biggest ever and some of them are beautiful in color as is the red one.
