Well I hope everyone had a great time celebrating Independence Day as we did. It was quiet this year here on the hill at the cabin as we did our celebration on Friday because so many already had plans. We did some small piddly jobs as we get ready for next week end and then with several coming for a visit for just the day, a few for a couple days and nights and of course Bobby and family for close to 10 days with the new grand boys and Annsley and Gabe. The back is progressing but not nearly as fast as I would like but I'm not in that excruciating pain category any longer but do have some constant ache in both the back and knee. I'm resting at night with help of the muscle relaxer because prednisone is supposed to keep you up and anxious; so far neither has affected me greatly. I will survive this episode if I can keep the inflammation down with this drug but sure hate being almost non essential with what I'm allowed to do.
I started the day much the usual with a well before 6 rollout of course my head hits the pillow around 10 each night so I'm getting close to 8 hours of rest which is great when I read about some friends walking the floor until the wee hours of the morning. We had a nice mountain breakfast of bacon, pancakes and eggs eaten out on the deck with the fresh cool air filling your lungs with the newness of the morning. I checked on the gardens and saw where either the rabbits which are plentiful this year had eaten off some of the Swiss chard leaves or the deer which seems to visit almost every night. I caught a rabbit eating last evening and came him a touch up with the BB gun from the back porch and he flipped in the air and took off into the woods. We have at least 4 we have seen running around together and they almost let you touch them as they are that tame. We see them all the time running around in the evening and early mornings.
I cleaned out the smoker grill parts and put it away and then settled into icing the back as I followed the regiment given to me by the chiro doc last week; he mentioned to keep on icing even with the meds as I really want this back to heal, especially with the grands coming. We did try to put together this basket swing and either there is a flaw in the construction or I just do not have the strength to align the sides into place. I'll need someone with a strong back to help with putting it together for the boys. Nancy was busy washing all of the porch furniture which was still showing some yellow pollen from the pine trees near the cabin.
We took off to the top of the mountain with her walking and me riding the golf cart. We stopped and gandered at the new lot on top that was cleared this week to make ready for the new cabin for the Herron's. We stopped and visited with their daughter Debbie and husband Joey who bought Norman's old place and they were thrilled her parents are building just down the road a few hundred yards. What a magnificent view they will have when completed. Nancy took off with Laura walking as she came by on her afternoon walk so I visited with several before heading back down to the cabin. I checked my squash plants and noticed instead of them being yellow they are zucchini plants. and they are loaded with baby squash. They were miss marked but in a way we are thrilled because we love zucchini pie, sauteed on the grille, bread and even fried, oh well that was a blessing in disguise because I didn't have room for both squash plants and we really do love the fried yellow ones, but the zucchini are more versatile.
We came back and cleared up some issues with a fraud charge to our credit card; thankfully the company called us about charges of over 1500 bucks that wasn't authorized from the country of Qatar to Delta airlines. Wow, were we ever surprised, so new cards are in the mail. Thankful for Discover for catching that fraudulent transaction. Well we ate some leftovers along with a fresh salad for supper after skipping lunch due to the lateness and the amount of the breakfast. We played cards until dark then the GAB (Nancy's sister called and she can ramble for weeks on the phone) so I caught up on some social media, took a shower and headed for some horizontal and they were still yapping, Later
OLD GLORY..what an historical sign of those who gave so much for the freedoms of so many and a symbol for the rest of the world. I have no idea why so many disrespect this flag and what it means to so many who voluntarily gave their lives for this nation and now the radical Left want to destroy not only the flag but the nation. What has academia done to destroy our culture along with the help of the Left Dem's and the issue of making racism the reason to kill, main, riots and loot. GOD HELP US(A)
