After my usual morning routines and a few quiet moments to reflect, give thanks and pray for blessings to the families of those who were murdered at the hands of radical Islamist terrorist throughout the world. I got ready and headed out for my bike ride to the rec for some 2 hours of pickle ball. We had 3 courts in action with A players and the wet shirts were in abundance as the play was fast and furious. The B group came in at 10 for their 2 hour workout and they too had a full gym of players. This sport has really taken off here in Seminole and in the country. I stopped off at the library on my way home for a couple new reads.
I decided to transplant some lettuce seedlings into the ground as rain was in the fore cast. So that kept me busy while Nancy was at the rec doing her 30 minutes on the treadmill. I also tied up some tomato plants that are really starting to set fruit. I especially like the small teardrop tomato's as their flavor is just awesome in a salad and I have 4 volunteer plants that are doing fantastic. I may have to cover them towards the end of the week as a freeze is in the fore cast as well. Hopefully that will stay away as the garden is doing so well but other than a few herbs and the tomato's most of my garden prefers cool or cold weather. I need to cut a cabbage today as they have really headed up and maybe have some fried cabbage for supper or some cabbage roll soup.
I worked on and finished my plan for the gardens at the New Life Village in Tampa and will meet with the director of the complex after church on Sunday along with a few other men from Element who are partnering up with the foster child adoption families. I've shared most or all I know about gardening and hopefully some of them will lend their expertise to the program as well. I learned the director is a vegetarian so he is really on board for the project.
Amy, GG, Sam and Eliza came for lunch and little Eliza is teething so she has a bit of an attitude but eventually got in a better mood as the day wore on. She loves to climb up on my lap and look at kid videos on the computer and wiggles around to the music. She is such a doll and just breaks your heart with her smiles and gibberish. She wants to talk so badly and is doing a decent job of making her self known with what she wants. After they left to pick up Ava the skies opened and I spent the rest of the afternoon in a book by George Pelecanos. I really enjoy his writings and he is a fantastic story teller as well.
We decide to have salmon cakes and sweet peas for supper. I need to go back on my watching what and how much I consume as this past weekend I added a few pounds and what feels like a few inches to the spare tire. Eating out is a diet buster whether it's at someone else's home or at a restaurant especially with the warm sourdough bread and herb dip, Yikes we went through 4 loaves of that at the Bone Fish on Sunday evening. Oh well!!!!
We settled into the Fox News Channel after the clean up and learned the "religion of peace" not only beheaded 21 Christians but burned alive 45 captives in cages this week end. When is someone going to step up within our government leaders and do something to stop this madness and become a leader and not a community organizer or fund raiser. The latest plan from this bunch is to give the terrorists jobs! What! I'm not believing what I hear from our state dept. as these terrorist have all the money they need from the oil in the region. Bin Laden was a multi-millionaire and he was responsible for killing thousands so why would we think these fanatics want a job. It's just another way for Obama to take America's money and give away to people who want to kill us. I say stop all foreign aid to everyone but our real allies and that would be Israel in the region but our potus is avoiding them and siding up with Iran who is the biggest sponsor of terrorism in the world and we want them to have nuclear capabilities. Wake Up, America, LATER
