Wednesday Morning ..July 3rd

Well Tuesday was a total work day once again except for a hike to the top of the mountain after supper which was almost like work. It seems the back trail grows steeper as the day progresses especially after being on your feet for most of the day, but the views were beautiful and we saw plenty of wild life with two fawns, several rabbits and squirrels along the way. It seems the new owners of the Browning Place have left the mountain as the place was closed up and now we know they are planning on putting it up for sale after just buying it this past winter.

I started the day much the usual with a before 6 rollout to my cup of green tea laced with turmeric and ginger root while I posted this ramble and then spent some quiet moments with my Creator in thanksgiving and lifting up several by name. All seem well at this point. I did try to call Paw Paw from the top of the mountain as we sat and looked out over the area but there was no answer. Everyone seems well and Caleb got a message out to his mom regarding his mail address and said it was rough going during basic training.

I finished up the final coat on the basement floor before breakfast and now have to wait until Thursday to seal the paint and hopefully preserve the floor. It's been a tough place to get the paint to stay due to the moisture but hopefully this paint job will last for a spell. I did some garden chores after eating and once again hand watered with the hose the flower beds and gardens. We heard some rumbling off and on during the day but no rain fell our way. The garden is doing as well as can be expected and next week I should be able to supplement the salads with fresh garden greenery. The cucumbers are setting fruit with tons of blooms as well and the green onions are almost big enough to pull as well.

I cleaned up the innards on the grill and found out one of the burners has developed a rust hole so as to make it not functioning properly. I'm not sure it there is some way to block the hole but I'm down to three burners which usually is more than enough to cook with. I cleaned out the old garden shed(once an outhouse) and put it in order. The mice at one time had stored all kinds of acorns in the corner but I haven't seen a field mouse since we've been here. Its next to the fire circle so I will stored campfire chairs inside out of the weather during the summer. I did more small piddly jobs that kept me busy through out the day and never sat down until it was time for supper.

Well we are getting excited about the kids and gran kiddos coming next week. Hopefully we will get the box springs for the new queen mattresses before they arrive. We have yet to try out the new shower but must do so before they come. Nancy had long talks with her pal Carol in Florida and they are coming the end of this month as well for a week. We will soon go into the entertainment mode instead of the work mode as we are about caught up except for the new sink in the down stairs bathroom. Seems it developed a hole in the area just above the drain and I've patched it with silicone and while it does not leak, its time for a new top. We can use the same faucet and vanity base, thankfully. It seems this year thus far has been renovations and up keep on the cabin which is now over 25 years in age. Where did that time go?

I tuned into the Ray's game on the internet and they are on a win streak again over the Orioles, LATER

Here is our view from the top of the mountain with a gentle cool breeze as the sun set was behind us.
