Sunday Morning

Well Saturday once again was another work day until the early afternoon when the heat drove me into the a/c of the cabin. Wow was that not ever a good investment plus it sure helps with this heat and humidity. I use to head to the basement to cool and still do at times but I really prefer to sit and watch some US Open in the cool or read.

I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my proverbial cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric and ginger while I made this post and then spend a few quiet moments with my Creator in humble thanksgiving for another day and lifting up several by name in this their time of need. All seems well with those as I've heard nothing to the contrary. Nancy rolled out around 8'ish and prepared some delicious buckwheat cakes, sausage patties and eggs for a mid morning breakfast around 10'ish. That held me the rest of the day until around 6'ish when we met at a friends beautiful mountain top estate along with 50-75 other folks for a fish fry. Wow what a gorgeous house, outside patio with a huge fireplace and acres of land with vistas for miles. The food and drink was in abundance and we reconnected with many old friends and made some new ones as well.

I fired up the weed whacker as the dew was heavy on the grass and edged the whole property after breakfast which kept me busy for a couple hours and then mowed. It was going on 2 before I finally finished and the heat was becoming quite prevalent so I sat in the basement until I cooled off then washed up and headed upstairs to watch a little of the US Open before we got ready to head out before 5. We did get a shower for about 30 minutes just before we left which cooled things down and gave the gardens and yards a drink. Nancy had made a fresh kale/Brussel sprout salad which was awesome. She added bacon to the mix which enhanced it even more. The kale came from the garden as well.

There was plenty of food with everyone bringing a covered dish along with catfish fillets and hush puppies. Delicious to say the least and the dessert table was full as well. I found a dessert I seldom ever see and it was always a favorite of mine; butter scotch pudding, yeow I did have a nice helping. We sat next to an older couple we didn't know and come to find out she was raised in the house we use to say in near our cabin when it was first being built; the old Mathews house near our road. She was a classmate of several folks we know here in the mountains. Such a small world. It was such a delightful evening and some of the small kids we knew are now in college, where did that time go.

Well we left just before dark and headed home and I paid some bills and then hit the showers and curled up with a book until 10'ish, LATER

Don't forget to honor our Creator and His son Jesus today with other Believers in corporate worship for in His Word where two or more are gathered in His name He is there.
