Well we are in the low country of Charleston, S.C. after a some what early start on Sunday. It took up nearly 8 hours as we stopped every hour and half to walk, fill up and grab breakfast in north Florida. It was a rather hot day with temps in the upper 80's for most of the drive. We checked in at the Holiday Inn in Mount Pleasant a little before 3. Our room is splendid just across the huge Ravenel Bridge a mile or so from the historic district. We noticed several folks riding bikes and even jogging across this bridge which reminds me of the Skyway Bridge that connects Pinellas, Hillsborough and Manatee Counties. Yikes it is really up there that allows large container ships, navy vessels and crusie ships to pass underneath.
We took a ride down to the historic district and found parking which is a bit expensive but at least we found a place to park the truck and took off on foot. The market is rather large with all kinds of vendors marketing there wares under roof. They each night remove everything and then once again each morning display them for the mass of tourists. The streets are very close together with tons of foot traffic. This is an old city with some of the best architecture I've ever seen. The eateries and curio shoppes are prevalent throughout the city. Horses drawn carts and carriages are everywhere with numerous stables and houses through the area as well. We visited one just before dark and spoke with the gals who were bathing and grooming the large Percheron Horse. They were very friendly and everyone we have met thus far have exceeding nice and friendly.
We ate supper at a local sports /Irish Pub and had a delicious meal of grilled Salmon, Mahi Mahi and crab soup to start the gastric juices flowing with all of the sides it was very pretty to looked and even better to taste. We walked along the many old streets some were still cobblestone and stopped at the Huguenot Church established some where around the 1600's and this building was the third one built on this very spot. We had a great time then headed back to the hotel around 9'ish. It wasn't long after a shower it was horizontal time, Later
