Thursday Morning August 20th

Well Wednesday started out with a light rain during the night which had everything wet and a little fog moved into the area as well. The temps were down into the 50's once again but as the day progressed the skies cleared and the bright warm sunshine came to be with a gentle breeze. We were expecting my first cousin and her husband to arrive in the early afternoon so we were doing some last minute house cleaning chores and getting ready for them.

I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my morning routines that start with the cup of hot green tea while I posted this ramble, my quiet times to honor my Creator and Lord and to lift up several for comfort and healing. Our little Huckston had some surgery and was having some complications with swelling and discomfort so he was taken back to the hospital later in the evening as a result. Poor little feller needs our prayers for comfort and healing.

We managed to get in a mid morning hike to the top of the mountain and the views were nice. The hikes have become a daily must for us as we try to get back into shape and I so look forward to them. We came back around noon and had a lite lunch as I'm trying to shed a few pounds. The cabin was in good shape and Nancy had everything planned out for supper. Tammy and Rich arrived around 4'ish just as the Lightning came back to eliminate the Blue Jackets from the NHL playoffs after being down 4-2 at one time. They won in the first overtime period and now will go on to the next round of 7 games.

We caught up with all thats been going with them now that they have an empty nest since their baby Brooke is now at Virginia Tech for the fall semester. Brooke wants to go into interior design specifically for hospitals and new borns. This program leads the nation in turning out graduates who are guarantee placements in the business world and the number of students are limited because of their expertise. Seems she has chosen a good profession.

We sat around and had a glass of the fruit of the vine while having some cheese and crackers until it was time to start the grille around 5'ish. Nancy had a nice vegetable grill basket and I put on marinated chicken breasts and along with yellow rice and a fresh garden salad we dined deliciously outside on the deck in the very pleasant evening air. Afterwards we headed in to play some Euchre and the gals beat Rich and I,  2 out of 3 games in a squeaker win on the final hand. We had a slice of homemade carrot cake which is a favorite of everyone while we played a game of Kings on the Corner to the score of 200. Nancy smoked us all on that game.

The NHL teams the Kesky's root for were all eliminated from the playoffs yesterday, but the Lightning will go on. It wasn't long after 10'ish, Rich and I were whupped, so I headed for the showers and then some horizontal lab by 10:30. Both Nancy and Tammy are night owls so I don't know what time they called it night. Please keep little Huck in your thoughts and prayers for comfort and healing, LATER
