Thursday Morning

Well this time last week we were on our way from Florida to the mountains; how time flies when your having fun. Wednesday was a work day until late evening when I met up with 5 other players mostly church members and a couple L.E.O. at the club for nearly two hours of pickle ball for me. They were still playing after I left, of course they're 30-40 years younger for a few of the guys than me; but I held my own. I'm sitting here in the bay window and just heard a turkey gobble in the backwoods yard. Yesterday morning after I checked the flower beds for sprouts a deer ran through leaving its tracks.

The day started much the usual for me with a before 6 roll out to my routines that start with my cup of green tea laced with turmeric after washing down a handful of Nutrilite vitamins while I spent some time with my Creator after posting this ramble. I lifted up several by name and all is well except I tried Paw Paw's number and got no return call which is unusual. I headed out to check on the gardens and flower beds and did notice I now have some color where I sowed Black Seeded Simpson lettuces seeds 4 days ago. Most of the seedlings are looking good and I had to water them last evening with a hose and a time or two during the hottest part of the day. Speaking of hot it has been beyond normal until yesterday when we didn't have to turn the window a/c unit on. The temps were down but the humidity was very low which made it great for working outside.

After another mountain breakfast(two this week) of fresh sausage, homegrown cackleberries(egg), grits and with some horseradish on the side for my sausage we dined which left us so full we skipped lunch and settled for an early 5'ish supper because I was playing pickle ball. After breakfast I filled up the weed whacker with fuel and headed down the drive to clean the ditches and trim back some of the over hanging trees and shrubs along the driveway. That kept me busy for the next couple of hours and I could feel the muscles in my legs as I walked and worked my way up the hill. I took a cool break in the basement then decided to clean out from under the back porch where I will be placing my a/c condenser and unit come next Thursday. I spoke with neighbor Gerald and he too is getting one installed in his cabin along with our "mountain mom" Helen.

I piddled around doing little jobs and by 2'ish I was whupped and decided to rest on the back porch reading until it was time to put the marinated chicken breast on the grill for an early supper of corn on the cob and a fresh salad. We sat outside on the deck in the shade of the huge tall pine tree and the breeze made it so nice to be outside. Nancy at times had goose bumps as the air really dried out. No window unit today.

I headed out around 6'ish and played to 8'ish before heading home to hand water the gardens and flower beds until 9'ish. It was still light outside as I headed in for the evening and then hit the showers and and read until nearly 10:30 before the sandman called, LATER
