Tuesday Morning August 4th

Well Monday saw the start of day with overcast skies and a drizzle here on the mountain until we reached the Elkin area around 11'ish when we arrived at the E.R. at Hugh Chatham Hospital. The swelling in the lower left leg had me concerned about the possibility of another blood clot which I had in that same leg about 10 years or so ago. Well it seems I was correct after an ultrasound exam revealed a clot in the area below the knee which was causing the swelling and a bit of discomfort to the foot, ankle and calf. The E.R. doctor put me on a script which was as costly as gold and for only a week; but his diagnosis was for me to be on this med for 21 days which has caused a dilemma for me. That is getting another local doctor to take me as a new patient so I can receive the next two weeks or 14 days of scripts. His recommended doctor in Elkin is not taking new patients and my old doctor here in Sparta has retired and his recommendations also are not taking new patients, so I only have a week to find a doctor who will write me the scripts I need to fill his diagnosis for the additional 14 days of meds. It's something of a mystery an E.R. doctor can only write scripts for 7 days and no more, oh well. I must after just 2 doses of this med; one he gave me in the E.R. and the one I took before bedtime has the swelling reduced over night and the foot and ankle seem to be back to normal in appearance.

The day started out much the usual with a well before 6 roll out to my routines that start with a cup of tea while I post this ramble then spent some quiet time with my Creator in thanksgiving and lifting several up by name. We found out a once close friend of our friends in Florida has cancer of the throat and the head. He was at Moffitt Cancer Center being treated for his issues. Most everyone else is holding their own as much as I know. We were gone from the cabin for most of the day as we stopped at the Wal-Mart for our "mountain mom" and picked up a new microwave oven and then took that by her place and removed the old one which had literally burned up a few days ago. She was thrilled to have this new shiny one to match her fridge.

After putting the script in at Walgreens in Elkin we headed over to Chick filet for a late lunch early supper around 4'ish This place was serving only take outs and the two lines were constantly full. The food was delicious as always and we sat in the parking lot to eat before going back to get the scripts and gassing up at 1.72 gallon. I was shocked at the price of these 24 pills at over 241.00 for one week and the E.R. doc wants 3 weeks of these meds, oh well. I just now need to work on finding hopefully a local doc to grant me new patient status or try to have my VA doctor in St.Pete fill the scripts. I'll be busy on the phone this morning, LATER
