Well Tuesday was a fun day with a little work thrown in after nearly 3 hours of pickle ball. Nancy was off with daughter Amy for some mother/daughter time as they did lunch together and then a movie. I was at the Rec. and then did garden and yard work until 4'ish when I decided to call it a day and hit the showers early. I knew it would be late after getting home from neighbors and good friends Dan and Carol's house after the ball dropped bringing in the New Year.
The morning was much the usual with a before 6 roll out to a cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric and fresh ginger while I posted this ramble, spent some time with my Creator and Lord and just gave thanks as well as lifting up several by name. There are new concerns on my heart for several as well as the many I lift up daily. As I reflect back on this past year there are many blessing which found its way into our lives and the newest biggest are the twin grand sons who are doing splendid considering they were 5-6 weeks early. Their mom Katie is doing well and in my opinion is learning motherhood the hard way while mostly in the hospital. There are some advantages of the boys being cared for around the clock with awesome nurses while she gets her strength back; but I'm sure not having them home is a bummer as they must travel each day to the hospital to nurse, pump and to bond is a some what downer.
They laid Uncle Junior to rest yesterday at St.Johns so that put a downer on what is usually a joyous ending to the year. We gathered around 5'ish at Dan and Carol's house along with Patrick and Kathryn which is usually a fun time but that had it draw backs as well as they left around 8 to head back to Tampa where they were dog sitting for their daughter's dog. They also informed us they were looking for land in Georgia and a house/condo at the beach once again and were selling their recently new built house at the country club near Dade City. Anyhow its seems the Botbyl's and us are still living in the same house and hood for over 40 years and are not planning on moving anytime in the future.
After the Tracy's left the four of us watched the ending of the Lightning game and they came back from 3-1 deficient to win over the Sabers. It was still only 10'ish and we decided to play a game of spaded which helped to keep us all awake until the ball dropped. The food was plentiful with the usual dips, finger foods and relish trays. The four of us watched the final couple minutes together at midnight ushering in the new year while hearing the blasts from neighbors fire works which did eventually awaken their grand daughter Palmer who was spending the night. It had cooled down enough that you need a jacket or sweater to be outside as we walked home but other than the coolness it was a beautiful evening here in Florida.
Well today Wednesday will be another gastronomic delight with our usual New Years Day feast of pork, sauerkraut, dogs, kielbasa, black eyed peas and smashed taters . Bobby and Amy's family will attend as will Betsy and Gus all around 5'ish. Katie who does not fancy this meal will stay with the boys in the Nicu unit, LATER
