Wednesday Morning

Well Tuesday was such an unusual day with the weather. The day started with fog and then a drizzle of rain for hours and then the skies cleared and the sun came out for 4-5 hours so I mowed the yards then it clouded up again poured rain and the fog came back. We did get in a much needed hike after being cabin bound on Monday.

The day started with me sleeping in after being up after 11 watching the Olympics. That doesn't happen very often on both fronts; sleeping in until after 7 and being up after 11, oh well such is retirement. I checked outside and it was looking like another cabin bound day with the fog and drizzle, yikes. FB showed pictures from two years ago and we were in the same weather pattern then as is now. We did our normal routines then turned on the TV for the equestrian program for Nancy while I played around on the Internet. Finally about 11'ish the drizzle stopped but still very foggy so much it was difficult seeing beyond the porch, but it wasn't raining so we took off to the the top of the mountain on a hike.

Our friends the Browning's were gone probably doing their civic duty delivering meals on wheels to the shut ins. We did see cars at the Cottles but they were setting at the table eating lunch so we just waved at each other as we walked by in the fog. It was a quiet walk through the wet woods as we headed home and then decided to take the golf cart out to the mailbox. We came back and had bean burritos for lunch and spoke with Bobby as he was in between meetings with clients. His ex wife remarried on Sunday and he led worship at the old Pathways Church in Pinellas on Sunday which has now been renamed City Mission Church. He and Katie have been getting uniforms for Annsley and Gabe as they start back to school next week. Ava and Sam have already started school on Monday at Keswick.

After lunch the sun came out and blue skies prevailed so after an hour or so for the yards to dry up I fired up the riding mower and mowed the yards. No sooner did I finish when black clouds rolled in and it began to rain again and then the fog rolled in again before night fall, yikes we are through with this weather pattern. Luckily we are planning on leaving here on Thursday for a short vacation to the upper Shenandoah Valley for a family reunion this coming weekend. We certainly hope the weather is better there with at least some sunshine.

Well we heated up some frozen spaghetti sauce with meatballs for our supper as we make room in the freezer and then we settled into the Olympics once again until nearly 11 for me. Nancy was up until nearly midnight before she came to bed. The Americans did well in the gymnastics and a revenge swim with Phelps was purely awesome. The volleyball team struggled and lost as did Serena in tennis. It wasn't a great day for some but awesome in other events.

Well today we head to Sparta to run some errands before leaving tomorrow mid morning. We want to take a different route up to Woodstock and have lunch at the Due South eatery in Christiansburg. We have never taken RT. 42 which runs through the mountains near the West Virginia side of the Shenandoah Valley. We love checking out the old farms, homesteads and small rural towns in the out of the way places, LATER
