Well Saturday was a total work day except for the hike up the mountain where we met up with Roddy and gave them a jar of our black raspberry jelly before they left to go back to their home off the mountain. They have a beautiful very modern style home here on the mountain and while only a couple hours away we seldom see them as they too have grand kids involved in sports.
I started the day much the usual with a before 6 roll out to my usual routines that start with the handful of Nutrilite vitamins and supplements washed down with some hot green tea laced with turmeric. (I'm out of ginger root so we must get some this Sunday while at the veggie stand after church) I posted this ramble then spent some quiet time lifting up several by name to my Creator for healing and comfort during their time of distress and need. All seem as well as can be expected due to their ailments and health issues. I headed out to check on the gardens after my routines on the world news and then the social world where I interject some of my views which Nancy is always reminding me to be positive and encouraging but there are times when those on the left need some scolding for their anti patriotic posts.
I did not put my life on the line for 7 years flying into a war zone and then 30 years wearing a uniform as a public servant between the law and lawlessness to stand by and see domestic terrorist burn our flag, tear down those who love and also served this nation and hurt innocent folks. It's a down right shame we do not have public hanging again in the nation as some of our past leaders need to be dealth with as well as those who kill innocent babies and old folks. We no longer have truth in the media and or in the government especially the democrat party. They sort of remind me of the old saying which is "take all you can for yourself and then destroy the rest" too keep anyone else from having their share. The dem's or libs or left seems to believe that theory which is all for only themselves and their thinking that America is bad and especially our duly elected Potus Trump.
Well I headed out to walk around the yards in the fresh mountain air which did have quite a bit of humidity so the a/c is still on in the cabin. I love being outside before the sun hits our place nestled back in the the shade of the tall trees but seeing the sunlight in their tops and the birds singing ever so sweetly. I did notice another slug damaged a Bibb lettuce seedlings over night and ate it down to the stem. They love this weather. I usually find several on the ground on my walk around and give them the boot; so far they have stayed away from Nancy's flowers which we use to find them on the Hostas flowers but since the deer ate all of them last winter the slugs are liking my veggies. The deer have stayed away thus far and I did notice the one Morning Glory seedlings is now starting to climb. They have the deepest blue color ever and will look good on the back yard rail fence.
After a breakfast of a couple leftover pancakes with real butter and honey I headed down to the basement to put it back in order then pitched a bunch of stuff that was gathering dust. I loaded up the golf cart with a step ladder, a gallon of red barn paint and the roller and brushes and headed up to the old out house, now tool shed to give it a make over. Mr. Roy built that for the gals 25 years ago so they good use it instead of tickling in the woods before we built the cabin and got a bathroom. We plumbed it to sit on top of the septic tank when ever we were here visiting during our vacations and then after the cabin was built we had a neighbor use a tractor and place it where it is now. It has needed some repairs over the years but the pressure treated wood and frame is still great and sturdy. The OSB boards along the ground have deteriorated some what and required some maintenance but the new paint job is marvelous. That took up most of the morning until it was time to hike the mountain.
We had a late lunch of guacamole and chips and then we finished the leftover decant chocolate cake. It started to rain after a couple thunder boomers and we got nearly 3/4 of an inch of rain in just a few minutes and then the skies cleared and it got hot and muggy. I decided it was time to weed whack the yards and fired up the weed eater and worked the next hour or so around the place and down to where the wine berries are in abundance this year. The grand kiddos will have fun picking and eating them. I picked a handful and my oh my are they so sweet and delicious. They are a completely different flavor than the black raspberry but they too make great cobblers but are very seedy.
Well we took a trip on the golf cart out to the mailbox and saw squirrels, rabbits, deer and wild turkey; the one missing is the black bear which does habitat our area which is seen occasionally; thus far we haven't seen any only the results when they tore up the French drain looking for yellow jacket bees larvae that hide there. One year we picked up two huge trash cans of the plastic drain where they had torn it apart looking for the bees nests but that was years ago. Well we came back and once again the rumble was close back despite the sun shining so we rested awhile. I watched TV for maybe the second time here for an hour or so while Nancy put together a zucchini pie for our supper. The fresh squash came from our dear friends the Luffman's garden. It was delicious and we have enough for another meal this week.
Well after the cleanup it was still rumbling so I tuned into the Ray's game on line and they finally beat the Yank's. The rest of the evening was our usual routines with Nancy on the TV and the changer flipping and me on the internet until it was time for showers and horizontal lab around 10'ish. She is a night owl and I never heard her come to bed, LATER
