Saturday Morning

Well Friday was a mixture of work and play with a great meal for supper with 4 other couples from our life group from BridgePoint. The day stared out with me sleeping in until 6:30 wow what a change for me as I'm acclimating to the new time at the rec. I wasn't playing pickle ball today as I volunteered to help a church member to move from his apartment. It was a hot and muggy day with temps in the upper 80's but at least the sun was shining.

After my later than usual roll out to my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric I spent some time with my Creator after posting this ramble. I learned a dear friend who I had know since she was just a wee little girl had passed away from the complications of diabetes. She had a weight problem all of her adult life and I had lost contact with her and her sister who both were adopted by my old employer at the farm market where I worked as a high school senior on weekends. I also noticed where one of my classmates passed on as well and he and I both served in the USAF during Viet Nam. But other than those sad news all is well with those I lift up each and everyday.

I piddled around in the garden and sowed some kale seeds in hope they will be big enough to take to the mountains for my garden there. The beets and Swiss chard seedlings are up to a couple inches in height and should make the trip just fine and the replanting as well. I headed out a little before 10 to meet up with a couple other guys to help with this move. I worked there until 1 ish then headed home to cool off as we were in and out of this huge truck packing it for this long trip to South Dakota. Amy and the grands were at the house for lunch and then they left shortly as Nancy wanted to get ready for our evening crowd. Everyone brought something to the table and the spaghetti was delicious as usual as was the Caesar salad and other goodies.

After eating we decided to play 10 rounds of Balderdash so each person had a chance to read and be the moderator for a round. It was a hoot and some of the answers coming from this group were unbelievable. Our usual winners were not this night and 4 were tied for the lead when we stopped the game and just visited until after 10'ish. We had one group in the kitchen eating homemade Zucchini bread, brownies and some delicious apple cake and another in the living room sharing life experiences. We are going to miss these wonderful folks and the work they do at BridgePoint as all of us have come from different churches to make our new church successful in helping folks get closer to GOD. Most of us are retired or semi-retired and I'm the second oldest in the group with both of us having much younger wives.

Well it wasn't long after they left that we cleaned up the kitchen and got ready for some horizontal. I'm back to my regular 8AM pickle ball at the rec. this Sat. morning as the camp is closed on the weekends and the gym gets back to normal, LATER
