Thursday Morning in chilly Truckee,Ca.

Well I must say we have been having full days of exploring, hiking, eating and today was no exception. Wow where do I start? We or I started the day off with an early roll out at the 6'ish witching hour, everyone else slept in but my internal alarm clock is right on the money once again. Of course it's still dark outside here in the mountains and it was down into the low 30's. After my usual few quiet moments and a cup of hot tea while sitting at this laptop I commenced to put together a condensed version of yesterday's activities and yesterday was another busy one that started somewhere around 9:30 as we loaded up the van and headed out to circle Lake Tahoe after a lite breakfast of oatmeal, toast and muffins and some even had some leftover pie.

We headed down along the west side of the lake visiting lots of small township's or villages. The mountains are majestic that overlook the lake. We came to an area called Emerald Bay and WOW is all I can say about this rugged landscape. The water is blue in some areas that change drastically from a green to a blue. The bluff over looking the small island in the middle of this protected cove is very rugged and pristine and the huge boulders we climbed on to view down below was something to see. The wind was strong and the temp's had a chill factor of somewhere in the high 20's or 30's. The mountains in the back ground were so rugged and probably reached somewhere in the 10 to 11 thousand feet in altitude. We framed around on the boulders until we nearly froze before heading on down to South Lake Tahoe.

We stopped at a small eatery but decided since it was not affiliated with another eatery the Tracy's were familiar with on the north shore we would move on plus it was still only about 11:30. We headed across the bottom of the lake and stopped at the state line with Nevada for lunch at heavenly Valley ski resort. Casino's lined the state line between the two states. We had a delicious lunch of Greek salad's and pizzas with each of us ordering our individual pies. The food was good and we had a sweet server who was from Florida and moved west a couple years back and to top off our conversation her mom is a stewardess for Southwest Airlines based in Florida and fly's out of Tampa and Orlando.

We framed around the area and the girls shopped while I found a couple corn toss boards outside the eatery. I started pitching the bags and a fellow came up and wanted play who was from Sacramento. We started a conversation and pitched several games. It was his first time ever playing this game so he was at a disadvantaged and I came him what pointers I knew. He comes to this area on his day off from trucking in the city. We wondered around this touristy/ski area for a couple hours before loading up and heading back north on the east side of the lake.

We made a couple stops along the way to view the beauty of the lake and the surrounding area. Wow is this place ever rugged and the wind was at full force an at times we could barely stand. We decided to make a stop at one of the Hyatt hotel/casinos on the north shore and then visited the dining area down by the lake. What a beautiful building the casino was housed in and we had to walk several hundred feet down to the dining area. We sat in the huge fireplace area where some of us had drinks. We then headed back to the cabin and was it ever getting colder as rain clouds moved in with the wind keeping the temps well below the 40 mark with the wind chill.

We had sauteed chicken breasts with a homemade sauce as well as yellow rice and black beans and a glass of vino to get the juices flowing while waiting to eat. The dinner was sumptuous and plentiful. We sat and watched the GOP debate and was glued to the tube for the duration. I'm finally convinced several of the candidates would make acceptable presidents while a few still have their heads in the sand, oh well. After a hot shower I hit the sack somewhere around 10'ish, Later

I must explain about the matching shirts that Carol and I were wearing. We both came out of our rooms wearing shirts with matching designs and colors and to liven up the group she and Nancy had put a scarf to accessorize each of us.
