Tuesday Morning

Well Monday was a total work day from about 8 until 4 when I moved a ton of rocks from all of the flower beds, walk ways and the circle drive rock wall. I rebuilt that walk completely and hauled off 8-10 golf cart loads of the unnecessary rock and placed them along the side of the old garden down below the yard. What a job and I must have sweated 5 pounds off as it was one of those hot and humid days here in the mountains. It reached 85 on the back porch in the shade and the a/c felt good after the job.

Well the day started with a before 6 roll out for me and my usual routines that start of course with the Nutrilite vitamins and supplements and then a cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric and a slice of fresh ginger root while I posted this ramble and then a few quiet moments with my Creator. All is well with those folks. Nancy is still having a rash from the poison Ivy or Oak so she is still on prednisone and using Calamine lotion. She feels it may be easing up some what but still is staying indoors away from the hot sun as much as possible in the cool cabin. The new ductless a/c is awesome and keeps the humidity out as well as the cabin very comfortable.

I ate light for breakfast with just cantaloupe after lots of carbs from yesterday's buffet and salad bar but made up for it at the Luffman's farm for supper. We were invited to help with the Mechelle's horse class at the farm on Mondays for any youngster who wanted to learn horse care that also teaches some riding tips. Mechelle does all of this for free for the kids. She and her parents have a beautiful farm with several horses and beef cattle as well as a very nice garden of which they blessed us with some awesome bounty in the form of zucchini, red leaf lettuce, scallions, yellow squash and some rhubarb stalks, plus set the table with barbecue ribs, corn on the cob, baked beans and fresh garden salad, Yeow what a feed. Nancy made and brought a decadent chocolate cake with chocolate icing for dessert.

We guys played some corn hole and Mechelle's brother Eric and his son Dillion were visiting from Raleigh and we had some very close games. Actually Dillion and I whupped Gerald and Caleb in a very close game as we are probably the least experienced players but lady luck was on our side and we rubbed it in. Also after supper we got into a heated game of Sequence with the guys vs gals and the guys prevailed for the win to start the series this summer. It's usually the other way around but the young Dillion was the key difference in our victory with 2 out of 3 games. They have been missing our game playing since last summer and are ready for some hotly contested play. We left just before dark at 9'ish and we could still see the landscape and several deer in the yards on our way into the cabin. It was a full moon night.

We did run errands while in town before heading over to the farm. We saw a dear friend Theia at the Sparta post office and chatted her up and learned Walt had a knee replacement this winter. She looked great after dropping several pounds and wants us to get together as soon as we have a break in our schedules. They are such dear friends and good folks as Walt did the electrical and plumbing on the cabin back when it was being built in '94 and '95. We made a dump run and then a stop at the library for a couple new reads. I have watched very little TV here at the cabin, when I do take a rest its usually with a book on the porch or just before the sandman calleth, LATER
