Well Tuesday was about as hot as I've seen it here in many a moon and I do believe its supposed to be that way again today, but then some rain is in the forecast for a couple of days so that should cool it down a little. It was a work morning and then get ready for neighbors for a supper and games afterwards and it turned out well especially as the guys dominated for a change, of course we had to have a gal play on our team as we were one feller short and then after a couple(Mike and Linda) left old Harvey(white rabbit) had to play two hands. Great fun and good eatin' as well.
I had started the day with my usual 5'ish rollout to my routines that begin with some quiet time to honor my lord, Jesus, give thanks for another day and to lift up several by name for comfort and healing, all seem to be holding with this post. I headed out to check on the gardens after day light and they to also looked great with no deer damage despite knowing they are around as evidence by some tracks. I think maybe those solar devices are working and now I shut them off during the day so the batteries can get recharged for the night time use.
I hand watered the gardens and flower beds in the early morning before breakfast while Nancy gets up and does her morning devotions then we have a bite to eat and then I headed out after donning some long sleeve shirt and pants to harvest black raspberries. Well I picked almost two full colanders of them and Nancy rinsed them and put them in containers so we can make jelly later this week. I'll pick again as there are still tons of red berries to turn and with this heat they are doing that almost daily. I did notice a couple small yellow squash starting to mature and now have more green beans up. I did harvest some red leaf lettuce, Swiss chard and basil for the salad bowl for our supper that went along with grilled pork chops and oven tatters, Linda brought a cheesy pineapple dish and Shirley brought a cream sickle pie and Elaine some watermelon and dinner rolls. We ate high on the hog.
After eating we got into the best of 5 games of Sequence with Elaine playing with the guys as Grand had an important phone call during supper. Mike and Linda had never played this game and picked it up very quickly but left after we guys prevailed with Elaine's help. Grant finally finished his call and then finished his supper and we played another best of 3 games with me playing a Harvey Hand and the guys won that as well. What a way to start the summer games as the gals always manage to win.
Well it was going on 10'ish when we called it a night and everyone left so it was time to hit the shower after checking on the Ray's game in Kansas and they were winning 5-1. I soon hit the sack as Nancy was going to try and sleep in bed with me instead of the couch as her snoring is terrible, but if I can get to sleep before she comes in I can get at least a few hours of rest before she awakens me, oh well LATER
