Well Friday was another gorgeous day with temps in the 6o's to start the day, but it did get up close to 80 by the afternoon. We spent the middle part of the day in the old city of Galax, Va. where we shopped, looked at old antiques and then stopped for a treat at one of the deli's for a delicious ice cream cones.
I stared the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my morning routines that start with the hot tea while I post this ramble and then spend some quiet moments with my Creator and Lord giving thanks and lifting up several by name for comfort and healing. All seem as well as can be expected as I've heard nothing to the contrary. We decided on having a "mountain" style breakfast for a change with crisp bacon, grits and eggs, I added a garden grown jalapeno to mine. We usually have oatmeal or fruit but decided it was time for some extra calories since we have been hiking which Steve and I did twice yesterday. One was the abbreviated hike which just took us up the steep trails and then later in the evening one that took us across the top of the mountain. The gals skipped hiking all together with a golf cart ride in the evening after a supper of ribs and salad.
We showed Sheri and Steve the Blue Ridge Parkway for the first time ever and they were amazed at the long distant views from the pull off's along the roadway. Old Galax was very nice as well as we visited several shop's but the city is hurting with this virus fiasco as all of the events were cancelled for this summer. The owners of these businesses were still hanging in there but many were closed permanently. We headed home around 3'ish and then I put the baby back's on the grill for their close to 3 hour cook. First I just put them on the grill, then wrap them in tin fold so the steam can tenderize them and then back on the grill to crisp them up. They were delicious to say the least and went perfect with broccoli and a salad. We should lose a pound or so if we keep eating this healthy.
We did get into a spade game while they cooked and the gals finally won for the first time and then after our supper and evening hike and golf cart ride we taught them how to play Euchre. That was exciting and the guys won both games. It was going on 10'ish so we called it a day and I hit the shower and slept in for a change this Saturday morning until after 7'ish, yikes that is a first in awhile, LATER
Steve and I got into a game of checkers at one of the stores.
