Well Tuesday was rather chilly to start the day and finally warmed to the middle 60's but there was plenty of sunshine. The breeze kept it cool despite the bright sunshine and made for a great day for drying laundry outside on the clothesline. I started the day with a 6'ish roll out and after my usual routines and a few quiet moments I headed out to the rec on my bike, yikes was it ever cold pedaling into that north wind. We had 3 courts in action and a new B player came for the first time and some of the A players were most unhappy and one even left after the first half hour of play. I was embarrassed for the group of grown men to act so immature, oh well. I did stay for the entire 2 hours and had a wet shirt by the end of the session.
I stopped off at the library for a new read and found an awesome non-fiction book title SAVAGE HARVEST by Carl Hoffman. The story is about Micheal Rockefeller's tragic demise in his search for primitive art in New Guinea during the 1950's. His grandfather was at one time the richest man on earth and of course his dad was vice president of the USA. So far I've found it to be quite interesting especially the beginning of the book and too what may have happened to him. He has never been found.
Nancy was at the dentist have a bridge made that required having two crowns installed to hold the bridge. Speaking of a bridge this cost about as much as real bridge across a creek, yikes!!! Oh well. I piddled around in the garden until lunch time and cut my last two heads of broccoli. Wow were they ever beautiful and possibly the largest heads I've ever grown. We had one for supper along with baked potatoes for a change and no meat. I finished the last leftover brat for lunch so I got my protein for the day. I'm still holding somewhere around 186 and would like to get down to 180 if that is possible by June. I haven't really missed the chips and crackers but do miss some of the bakery bread which I think has been the root cause for this weight gain in the spare tire area..
I finished up a read by George Pelecanos who has now become one of my favorite authors and started the book by Hoffman. I take spells where I read only non fiction and then just the opposite if I find an intriguing author like Pelecanos or Richard Yates. The new lettuce seedlings are doing fine and I think will make good for our salads in a couple weeks. The sugar peas are blooming like crazy and I should start to harvest a few for our salads as well as stir fry's with fresh mushrooms sometime this week. That was about it for the day except Nancy took her mother to the doctors for a consultation regarding some plague buildup in some arteries of her legs and whether to have a vascular surgeon give her an opinion. The woman is 86 and gets around magnificently but does have some swelling in the ankles from time to time. Personally I don't think she should have any invasive surgery at her age and especially when she gets around so well. She comes everyday for lunch and lives alone and is still quite the cook. Her biggest health issue is her hearing but aids have helped her tremendously.
We settled into the Fox News channel and learned the "religion of peace" has burned alive a downed Jordanian pilot and video taped it for the world to see, but our potus is out there with appeasement on these and their barbaric practices the Islamist use. It's a disgrace that we have such an inept leader and his sycophants in the press and in the congress. I really believe he is either afraid of them and or he is a closet muslim and wants to see America radically changed. I fear for our grand children and what they will face if these terrorists are allowed to continue to infiltrate our culture and gain footholds in the government, LATER
