Well the rain finally stopped after a couple of times the sun came out and then it poured again during the day. I did finally get in a half a hike a couple times during the morning between the rain showers. All together we received close to two inches and the temps dropped dramatically over night as well. The first taste of fall is in the air which is about right for September.
I didn't do much after my morning routines which started with the cup of hot tea and then my quiet times with my Creator and Lord lifting up several by name for comfort and healing. Nephew John is still holding and fighting for his life but now we are learning there is scaring on his lungs so if he makes it, he will be a long time recovering. I'm still not convinced the vaccine is a good thing for the body as many we know who had the shot are still dying from the virus, oh well. We were to go to Jake and Katelyn's for supper but Jake came home feeling under the weather so we cancelled plus Nancy had a scratchy throat and we did not want to give any thing to baby Skylar or to them. She seems fine the longer the evening went and is O.K. this morning.
I piddled around in the basement out of the rain replacing the head on a weed whacker that Mike gave me from his garage. It's a 4 cycle Troy Bilt and in still in good shape with several attachments. My old weed whacker has some milage but still runs so I'll have a good back up when it decides to bite the dust. I did manage to hike down the driveway to see if the rain caused it to wash out and it was still in decent passable shape. Neighbor Gerald is away so we don't have the use of his tractor but a little raking should make it smooth again. I'll head down the drive and handle that while it's still wet this morning.
The October beans are up and adding leaves and survived the rain but the slugs took out one hill. They love the rain and where they come from is beyond me. I sent several large ones away for ever that were in the garden and yards. The cucumbers are still blooming and setting fruit. I harvested another handful of tomato's as well as the last head of romaine lettuce. Along with it and some kale and beet greens we will have a salad for a couple days. The recently sowed lettuce seeds never germinated so I'll sow again for some fall lettuces as soon as the garden dries out.
We stayed round and in the cabin except for a few minutes when the rain stopped and the sun came out. After supper I tuned into the Ray's game and they played very sloppy and lost by a run in a game they should have won easily, LATER
