Well Tuesday was another hot and muggy day with a rather strong breeze from the southeast. Of course that kept the humid conditions ever present. I was able to work outside until lunch time but after that it was inside in the a/c and reading after Amy, Sam, Eliza Faye and GG left for the day.
The morning started much the usual with a little later roll out for me somewhere around 6:30 for a change. I did my morning routines of a few quiet moments, daily disciplines and then the posting of this ramble with a hot cup of green tea laced with some turmeric for the joints. The knees are almost back to normal but I'm almost reluctant to head back to the pickle ball courts for fear of re-injuring them. I set a target date of the 4th to give the game another shot but then I'm going to limit myself to a couple days a week and just an hour or so at a time instead of the daily 2 hour workout. I 'm thinking it's time to act with some regard to wearing out these knee joints as I would rather be able to walk pain free than run around on the court, oh well such are decisions that come with maturing or getting old.
I transplanted 54 lettuce seedlings into 9 pack containers and still have some red lettuce seedlings to move up into 9 packs as well. I'm hoping we get a little cooler temps after the first of the years as the lettuce doesn't do well in this high heat. I did manage to harvest some romaine lettuce, kale and beet greens to add to some store bought lettuces. The green beans are so loaded with little beans I will be giving away lots of them in a few days. The bushes are so big and healthy. I've found a few large green tomato worms the past couple days; they of course found the underside of my shoe. The collards are ready for picking and I'm making a pot to accompany our black eyed peas, pork roast and sauerkraut we always fix on New Years Day. Bobby, Katie and their kiddos will be here to eat with us. The Ross kiddos are thrilled about that as are we along with GG and Betsy. Should be another delicious supper with family and some college football.
Well Nancy made a pot of tortilla soup for supper and that was very tasty. After the cleanup we settled into the Fox cable news channel until it was time to head for the showers. I tuned into the Moonshiners show while Nancy watched her Fixer Upper show and by 10'ish I was ready for some horizontal lab, LATER
