Well this month is just about gone as its the last Sunday and we are exciting about son Bobby and Family next weekend, lets hope the rain stays away unlike our last guests who were welcomed here with near constant rain and fog, oh well. Yesterday turned out to be a near perfect day after an over cast start and a couple of sun showers in the afternoon but there was some major drying out here in the gardens and yards with mostly sunshine and a gentle breeze. Our guests left around 6 ish and it was quiet around here as we did our respective after guests leave jobs, but it was quiet with just the two of us.
I headed out to check on the gardens and yards after my morning routines that start with some quiet times to honor my LORD, give thanks for another day and to lift up several by name for comfort and healing. All are holding as I make this post. Our friends who were here for the first time made it safely to their Illinois destination around 7'ish after a 6 start from here. We so enjoyed their company and game playing and look forward to seeing them again in Florida.
The driveway had some ruts and a wash out at the foot of the driveway where leaves and debris had filled the drainage ditch so I headed down with some tools to clean out the ditch to help prevent that from happening in the next big rain event. Neighbor Gerald was on his tractor with the box blade and was scraping the entire road and eventually our driveway. I had a full golf cart load of cut brush from the ditch and added it to the burn pile and then decided to loosen up the packed soil from the veggie plants. That kept me busy until lunch time. Nancy had stripped beds and had laundry going as she was into her inside chores.
I harvested a nice mess of leafy greens for neighbor Gerald and took them down to him and his mate Phylis. They will be here over the weekend before heading back to Winston-Salem where she has a house there. His willingness to keep the road up is a great blessing and he does such a great job. We road out to the mailbox in the golf cart and picked up some large rocks his scraping had loosen in the road and then cut some over hanging vines and limbs that had become obvious in the roadway. We stopped and spoke with Keyes McKee who has a place at the entrance to our road for a long time catching up on all thats going on in our area and then we saw Mike leaving out as well who suffered no damage from the storm. We mentioned we had a visit from the bear he had captured on his trail camera.
After a supper of leftovers which were as delicious as the night we had them we headed out to walk the property as Nancy just wasn't up for the steep backwoods trail, but we got the respirations up walking the perimeter of the yards. We did watch the Ray's lose after being up 4 runs to start the game. Our son in law Tyler and his son Sam were at the game along with their new pastor at S.F.B.C. who is from Kansas. It was this Kansas team that won big on this afternoon. After inspecting the flowers and veggies we tuned into the college world series and it was tied going into extra innings. We could hardly keep our eyes open after our showers due to the 5'ish start of the day. I'll have to read who won: Florida or LSU.
Well its corporate worship day at Cornerstone in Sparta but first we will tune into Gary Hamrick in Leesburg, Va before heading out at 9:30. We will have lunch out with friends then do some shopping and pick up a script for our mountain mom on the way home and drop that off and visit with her
. We will head to Galax, Va. on Thursday to stock up for Bobby and family who arrive next Saturday, LATER
