Tuesday Morning Sept 1st

Well Monday was a wet soggy foggy day until mid afternoon when we finally saw the clouds lift and sunshine enveloped the area. We had gone off to Galax to do some shopping as we are having guests arrive on Wednesday from Seminole. We are part of the Bridgepoint Church Family and have become good friends over the past couple of years. It will be their first time ever to come to the mountains and we are excited to show them around. They will be coming from a couple days stays in Charleston which will be their first time there also. We enlightened them about that lovely city as well.

I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my cup of tea while I posted this ramble then did my quiet time with my Creator and Lord giving thanks and lifting up several by name. All seem as well as can be expected as we've heard nothing to the contrary. We got ready and headed out to the big city in Virginia which is about15 miles or so from the cabin. The parkway was fogged in, in some areas so the going was slow.

We made several stops as Nancy needed to return some clothing which didn't fit to Cato's which will not let you try on clothing in the store which makes absolutely no sense, but Walmart has the same policy, oh well. We stocked up once again on groceries, gas and some goodies before heading back to the cabin. We noticed the parkway had started to clear off the closer we got to the cabin and by the time we got home the rain had stopped but was still overcast and damp. It was rather cool as well with temps just into the 70's. I headed out after we ate our big meal of leftovers around 3'ish to split some wood for the campfire which hopefully we will have with our guests some time during their stay. That kept me busy and I worked up a sweat as well.

We took off on a hike to the top and during the hike I got a call about pickle ball Tue. morning from neighbor Gerald and decided to have another go with it with him and his friends in Elkin which is just down off the mountain. We will leave here at 7:15 this morning(Tue.) for a couple hours of play. The hike was awesome as the clouds gave way to sunshine and blue skies for the rest of the evening. It was close to 7 before we got back at the cabin. The Lightning Hockey Team from Tampa was playing in the Stanley Cup finals against the Boston team and they were up with 3-1 wins in games and could close out the series with a win. I watched the game until the end of regulation which was tied 2-2 then headed for the sack as I knew I had an early roll out this morning for pickle ball. I checked the scores this morning and the Lightning won in double overtime and now will move one series closer to playing for the cup, LATER

This was our evening view as the clouds and fog lifted.
