Wednesday Morning

Well Tuesday was one of those days where it seemed I accomplished very little in the hard work department. Nancy was gone for most of the morning and early afternoon to Sparta to run some errands and to meet up with Kathryn and Marcia for some girl time shopping and lunch. I did get a load of laundry out as well as racked my blackberry must for the first time. What a tedious job that is taking the berries and seeds out of the mixture and keeping everything sanitized at the same time. That kept me busy beyond lunch time which found me cleaning up the last of the leftovers from the week end.

The morning started with my usual 6'ish roll out to start the day. It's quiet here in the mornings and while the temps reach the low 80's by the afternoon it's down into the low 60's for the mornings. We still haven't had much rain in the last week or so and with the strong wind at times things are starting to dry up. We've had some clouds and thunder but the rain has passed us by this last week. We did get a 5 minutes sun shower around 3 'ish which caused me to get the clothes off of the line but that quickly went away so I'm back to hand watering morning and evening some of the new veggies twice a day. It seemed after that 5 minute or less rain shower the humidity noticeably dropped along with temps.

I did harvest a ton of lettuces, kale, spinach, beet greens and Swiss chard and cleaned them and used the salad spinner to take away the wetness and stored a huge bag for our salads the next day or so. That is a another tedious job that takes time as well and Nancy usually does this chore. Afterwards I caught up on some reading and relaxation on the back porch until she got back somewhere around 4'ish. We decided to finish the potato salad on a bed of fresh salad along with the last of the smoked chicken for supper. Yeow was that ever delicious.

We headed out for our daily hike to the top of the mountain after digesting for an hour or so. We stopped and chatted with the Browning's and Rex who was visiting with his dog Prancer. We sat for half and hour or so before heading back down the mountain to do some more hand watering. The Browning's garden is doing well and she had a nice mess of beans picked and ready to can along with starting to get a few ripe tomato's. I noticed my beans are starting to put on some little ones but no tomato's yet. I am getting plenty of cucumbers and enough to give away.

Well that was about it for this day as we watched a little of Fox News before I switched to watching the Ray's on the lap top. They finally beat another ball team in a close win in Philadelphia for a change. It wasn't long after a hot shower and few chapters with a new Lee Child book that Nancy picked up at the library for me when she was in town that I was reading the insides of my eyelids, LATER
