Well it still HOT and humid in Florida with temps in the 90's, yikes is all I can say. I didn't do a whole lot outside as its just too hot plus we wanted to attend neighbor Carol Heckman burial service at the VA Cemetery scheduled for 12:30. So that meant we had to stay relative sweat free until then so I did wash the the grime and dirt from the truck under the big oak tree. Still I had a wet shirt when finished. Today was Tyler's 39th birthday so Amy was having us over for supper at 6.
The day started much the usual as my internal alarm went off a little before 6. I could her the a/c running throughout the night which was a good sign compared to a week or so ago when there was no electricity in the hood. I spoke with both neighbors and it was very difficult on everyone with no power for nearly a week. I'm sure glad we weren't here as the humidity was unbearable especially at night.
The service at Bay Pines was very nice and it was just family down from Michigan and her sister who lives here plus pastor Mike Mott from SFBC who gave a nice service and Nancy and I. We were neighbors for 38 years and she was such a sweet lady. She was 90 years young. I was her go to guy when ever she needed help after her husband Bill passed away in '01. She always remembered my birthday with a card each year. She was cremated and buried next to Bill in the VA Cemetery which was very well kept and there were thousands of flat grave markers.
I sort of rested and read until it was time to head over to Amy's for supper as the afternoon sun was just to hot. The grand kiddos were so excited to see us especially Eliza Faye. Amy had roast chickens, smashed taters, green beans and corn as well as a gluten free chocolate cake with white icing and Vanilla ice Cream, Yeow what a feed. I stayed away from the ice cream but did have a sliver of the cake which was very good. It was hard to tell the difference as she used gluten free flower due to Tyler's intolerance for gluten. We had a grand time and headed home around 8:30 as it was a school night.I tuned into the Ray's game and they lost to the Orioles which put them back further for a wild card slot. It's beginning to look like they may not make it to the playoffs.
Today I'm heading out to play some pickle ball at Walter Fuller Park in St.Petersburg as our rec. has just about shut down for having PB daily until the winter visitors arrive. It seems the management isn't restructuring their daily costs which is twice what every other gym charges for daily play unless you live in the city. They don't seem to care whether there are players or not, oh well. Hopefully that will change later into the winter season when we have more players back from up north, LATER
