Saturday Morning June 24th

Well Friday finally saw some sunshine for the biggest part of the day but we did see some rain a couple of times. The sun was so great to see after 4 full days of no sun and the gardens and flower beds finally started to dry out or at least the soaked ground stopped draining. We got in a nice long hike/walk  just before lunch and saw what terrible shape the back road was in from the roaring river of rain. I mean foot deep ruts all along the length of the road with lots of the gravel gone and washed away into the ditches. The stream in the usually dry gully behind the cabin is still with running water. I lost a few veggies and a couple flower seedlings but very thankful most will survive to show their beauty in a few weeks.

I started the day with a before 6 roll out to my usual routines that always start with some quiet time to honor my LORD, give thanks for another day and lift up by name several who are hurting. All seem as well as possible due to their health issues and ages. We had a great fun time of game playing both days and evenings as well some fine eatin'. with Nancy Ellen and Brian. It was always Nancy's turn when playing games as we distinguished between Nancy Ellen and Nancy Jean. We did take a couple hours and watched Gary Hamrick's message on the "transing" of America which ever pastor and patriot needs to view and Kirk Cameron's message in libraries across the country, that we should "be brave" in sharing our beliefs and standing up for our christian principles and fight the evil that is permeating our culture.

Brian and I got in some target practice from the deck while grilling some steaks for supper with the BB guns. After a delicious meal we tuned into the Ray's game and their bats came to life, beating the Royals big time. We had the game on in the back ground while we played a couple rounds of Jokers and Pegs and this time as partners which makes for a great competitive game with guys vs gals. We also played great games of Hand and Foot and of course that is also a guys vs gals game. Most of the games were split evenly between us as partners. We had such a great time despite the rainy weather. It was too bad the visit was so short but they have a long drive to first Illinois and then Wisconsin where Brian will do some remodeling for his son over the next week or so. Hopefully they can get back this way next year.

Well we have a week to get ready for son Bobby and family and the twins are getting excited for their visit as they called yesterday and mentioned about their ride in the golf cart. Hopefully the bear stays away as it made grandma Nancy fearful as always for our safety. I will keep the garbage in the red shed or basement until we get to the dumpsters. The mountain top local dog named Lucky followed us back to the cabin on our hike and spent the afternoon visiting us, so we finally called her master too come and get her. The grand kiddos and Rocky love her as she is a special sweet and friendly dog. Well that was about it for this two day visit and today Saturday is supposed to be 5 golf balls which is the best when you consider no golf balls during the constant rain days, LATER
