Well the big storm finally moved on but not its remnants as it's once again raining this morning and again last night. We need to dry out as the yards are squishy and soggy. The gardens are probably through this growing seasons and whats in the ground will soon rot if this rain doesn't quit soon and some sunshine starts to dry up the ground. There was a break in the rain during the afternoon so I did use Gerald's tractor and scrapped some of the washed out driveways that left a foot or more of dirt and gravel in the main road. Our driveway stayed almost perfect and its because I've added a drain ditch on both sides and a couple of cut across ruts to help move the water off of the main road.
I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my routines which include posting this ramble while I had my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric and fresh ginger and then a few quiet moments with my Creator lifting up several by name. All seem to be well except many of our friends and family on the eastern shore who are inundated with water and trying to cope with the effects of this storm. Our issues are very minor compared to their issues and we hope pray they can soon restore some semblance of their usual routines that start with drying out.
We didn't do a whole lot as the rain kept us in once again during the morning but by lunch time we saw the sun occasionally and decided to chance a trip to the mailbox in the golf cart. We were so surprised at how well our driveway held up with no ruts but several of the other drives did not fare so well, especially the Rich Hill Mountain road which is the road that runs parallel to our drive but continues on up to the top. The road is not maintained except folks who have cabins on it and it washed out with huge ruts and all of the run off with rocks, gravel and dirt covered our road with a foot or more of debris. Neighbor George 's drive washed as well and we handled that runoff with rakes leveling out the road.
We came back around 4'ish and settled into the news and then read until supper was ready. We never got into a hike today as the evening shadows quickly fell after supper. I finished another book and then tuned into the Ray's game on the internet and they beat the Rangers in Texas. They still have hope to make the post season but we will need some help from some other teams for a wild card slot. Let's hope the A's go on a losing streak and we continue to win. Well it wasn't long after a hot shower I started another read until a little after 10 then it was lights out for me, LATER
I want to wish my youngest grandson Gabriel a Happy Birthday as he turns 8 today and is becoming quite the baseball player.
