Well Tuesday was a busy day that started with a sleep in until nearly 8'ish. I've somehow let my immune system down and have just about let those cold symptoms take over. I picked up some powerful OTC fluids at Walgreens while we were in town and that it starting to work except I've just about lost my voice.
Nancy made a mountain breakfast with blueberry pancakes, sausage patty's and eggs to order all washed down with orange juice and coffee; of course I had green tea laced with turmeric while I washed down my handful of vitamins. It was in the high 50's to start the day and did reach the middle 70's and after a late afternoon gully washer the temps were down into the upper 60's until the clouds moved out and then once again it warmed back up to the upper 70's. The weather has been perfect.
We decided to catch our supper over at our "mountain mom" Helen's pond. Gabe was the big fisherman of the day and we put 8 bass in the bucket big enough for filleting for our supper. Bobby made a beer batter for the small fillets and they we delicious to say the least along with corn on the cob roasted in the shuck in the oven and salad. We had gone to Sparta after our fishing expedition to the new pizzeria for a buffet lunch. Their salad bar is excellent and so are their pizzas and tap room beers of which Bobby and I had one. Afterwards we waddled out and everyone ventured into the downtown area and then to the barber shop where Gabe got his ears lowered by a young barber who attends our church. I took off to the landfill while they shopped and made a stop at Walgreens.
We got back around 4'ish then Katie and Bobby took off for the tennis courts in town where they got in an hour or so on the court. I filleted the fish and got them ready for the frying pan and the kiddos played on their Ipads and rested. I too rested for awhile as this cold has sapped some of my energy. They got back somewhere around 6'ish and we decided we should eat supper as it was going on 7. We ate in the dining room as the deck was still wet and sprinkling at times. After the clean up we decided all should have baths as we grown ups wanted to play dominos. Katie had never played but she pick up on the game quickly and was leading most of the way until the final couple rounds when Nancy came from behind and won just before midnight. I was wanting to throw in the towel around 11 but everyone else decided we should finish the game and so we did.
We learned that Katie's mom and dad Bruce and Lynn are coming this morning for a visit up from Boone and Blowing Rock area and will have lunch with us. We took the baby back ribs out to thaw and will but them on the smoker this morning. We have enough corn on the cob and along with fresh green beans and carrots from my Florida garden we should have enough, LATER
