Well I must say the last day of 2015 was a rather hot and muggy one but one where I got a lot of work done around the yard and garden. We met up with our small group gang around 6:30 just up the street and then spent the evening dining on finger foods, a little vino and played the game LOGO for what seemed like hours. We had the college football games on in the back ground and then watched the ball drop in Times Square and our Mexican neighbors across the street from the Botbyl's put on a 30 minute fireworks display that nearly matched the large commercial displays. It was close to one before we or I finally had some horizontal lab and it was 7:30 this AM before I rolled out to start the day.
The morning started with my usual 6'ish roll out and then my usual morning routines of a few quiet moments to honor my Creator and then my now daily personal growth discipline time before the posting of this ramble. Afterwards I grabbed an apple and headed out to the back yard to hand water the gardens until it was time to head out to Home Depot and Sam's Club. I picked up another bunch of Texas sweet onion seedlings, several bags of composted cow manure, mulch and milorganite fertilizer for the lawn before heading to Sam's. I had the butcher cut up a whole bone-in pork loin into two roasts and then the rest into inch thick chops. We will prepare one of the roasts today for our supper when all the family shows up.
I got back before lunch so I rode my bike to the library for some new reads they were holding for me and then we had a lunch of leftovers before I headed out to work in the front yard. I dug 30 holes or so and I planted the marigolds I had started from seeds from cabin. They were starting to bloom and we are supposed to get some rain this weekend so I thought that would be a good time to add some color to the front of the house. I then planted my new sweet onion seedlings and had enough to finish the row from the ones I planted last week. They look good and I hope these do as well. I had some little ones left over so I took out my radishes which had some excellent tops but no radish. That is one seed you must plant in the cycle of the moon or all you will get is tops. I should have known better as this happens every time I forget to check on the moon, oh well.
I want to transplant the lettuce seedlings in a couple of days into the new garden area which I will load it with the bags of composted manure. I think the nematodes have taken a liking to the cucumber plants as the vines suddenly started turning yellow and dying. I should have planted some marigolds around them as these microscopic worms don't like the smell from marigolds and are a natural deterrent to their proliferation. They are also called root knot which drains all of the life from your plants. I transplanted some round my tomatoes yesterday as well as they are one of their favorites plants to live on, oh well such is the gardening in Florida.
I picked up GG, Nancy's mom and brought her with us to the get together with our small group around 6'ish. We had smokies in a blanket, con casio, small egg rolls, guacamole, salsa, small tostadas, etc. Way too much food and then some kind of cookie dough pizza with fresh fruit, yikes there goes the spare tire in just one night. Just an update on Paw Paw. I spoke with him in the morning hours and seemed to have a good night of rest with none of the symptoms he experienced the night before. They were running all kinds of tests on him to determine what may have caused this extreme sweating and pain in the left side of this body.
Well we can only hope for good change this coming year with regards to future of our country. We hope at least this abomination of inept leadership will be gone this time next year and yet if we don't step up and vote for some real conservative change I'm afraid we will have more of what we are experiencing now and may even be worse. Hillary would sell her soul for a buck and we have already seen that while she was secretary of state, plus she is more of a liar than this potus. GOD help us if we don't start to fight back against these who want to destroy our values and freedoms, LATER
