Sunday Morning

Well we spent part of the day, Saturday once again in Galax, Va. as we shopped at the super Wal-Mart. The rest of the afternoon was a work day as I used a paint roller loaded with full strength bleach to kill the black mildew from the upper side of the cabin. The porches stayed mildew free but there is a little on the dormer which will require me to exit through the upstairs bathroom window out onto the roof.

I stared the morning with my usual wake up a little before 6 and then a walk around outside before my usual morning routines of a cup of hot green tea, a handful of Nutrilite vitamins and supplements and then a few quiet moments with the Creator giving thanks and reflecting on life and lifting up those who I know need some special consideration and prayer. I did manage to squash a few of those veggie eatin' slimy slugs that were on my kale, beet greens and beans plants on my walk around. They leave little holes in the leaves as they eat away during the night especially when it's wet from rain or heavy dew. You never see them in the daylight hours as they are nocturnal and the sun's dry heat is their only natural enemy.

We made several stops in Galax before getting home and having a lite lunch around 1:30. The sun was off the east side of the cabin so it was time to work on the mildew. I was able to work about 2/3 rds of the way up without using the ladder as I now have access to a paint pole extender. Wow does that make it so much easier when working from the ground. I had to cover Nancy's flowers with some plastic tarps but I think only a couple plants were affected by the bleach splatters. That chore kept me occupied until nearly 5 when we decided to take our daily hike to the top of the mountain.

We saw no one on our hike and it seems most everyone was gone for the weekend as there no cars around. Nancy brought her camera and took some fantastic view shots. We found the area where our neighbor got into a nest of yellow jacket bees the other day and was stung 13 times before she could get away. I will take care of them with a little gas in their nest in the ground and make them pay dearly. The nest is right along where we hike and we were buzzed a couple times as we walked by looking for the area of the nest. They are one nasty bee who not only sting but bite as well and they can sting you more than once; unlike the honey bee who dies after stinging you as their stinger is pulled out along with their innards, oh well!!

I grilled salmon fillets for supper and along with a fresh salad and yellow corn on the cob we feasted, yikes that was some good eatin'. After the clean up we wondered around outside in the flower and gardens until it was time to watch the Stanley Cup finals. This game of hockey requires real athletes and I think they are probably the best in shape players of any sport. The Lightning lost at home in a real close match and now must go back to Chicago for a must win if they have any chance to win the cup. They have been there before and have overcome to get this far, GO LIGHTNING!!!!

Well it wasn't long after the game ending that I was ready for bed. A few chapters in FROZEN IN TIME and I was out for the night. Today is corporate worship day at Cornerstone here in the beautiful mountains of N.C. We will pick up a young feller who keeps us supplied with fresh water trout and venison while we are here and take him with us to church

as his family is out of town, LATER
