Well Friday was just another near perfect day as we traveled out of the county and state over to Tennessee to visit with an old church friend from Florida who is undertaking a huge enterprise of developing a camp for folks who want to be on this beautiful lake named Watauga near Elizabethton, Tenn. It was an all day trip with great scenery on both the 81 acres he is developing and the camp sites and then over to a delicious barbecue house right on the lake for some of the best eatin' ever and we brought some home as the portions were huge.
I started the day with my usual 6'ish roll out to my quiet times after posting this ramble and a solo hike to the top of the mountain. It was just breaking sunrise and the morning sun was awesome as I finished up my daily talk with my Creator. Such a beautiful morning and while it was a bit chilly to start the day it eventually warmed up enough I wore shorts on our trip but had a flannel shirt for back up. We had a lite breakfast of oatmeal before starting out as well and that held us until we had a lunch/dinner on the lake.
Steve and Sheri picked us all up at 9 and we headed down to Boone and then over to Camp Faith which just across the road from the lake. It right at a hundred miles and the ride down was beautiful as the leaves have really started to change their "clothes" as fall and winter is approaching. Such beautiful reds, yellows and orange colors make up their change.
Darren took a couple of us up the mountain in a jeep to where we see across the valley and the lake to a small cabin he has remodeled into a beautiful "honeymoon" suite as well as the many camp sites and cabins he has put on this rugged mountain site. He has really done a magnificent job and we met a friend he has found to spend some time with as well. She is gorgeous in both physical appearance and in spirit. We all went out to lunch with them and got to know her better. I sure hope they stay together as she is a keeper.
It was going on 6 when we came back a different way through Mountain City instead of through Boone which was a thrill as well. The road brought us into West Jefferson after a beautiful ride through the mountain. I took off on a mountain top hike after being cramped up in the car for a couple hours and it was still very nice outside. Since we had a huge lunch we decided around 8'ish to just have some pop corn while we played some Skipbo. We made it an early night by 10'ish. What a fun day, LATER
