Well we are having typical Florida winter weather with the highs in the low 60's and lows into the 40's much like a spring day in the mountains. The mountains had around 15-20 inches of snow over the past couple days with temps down into the below freezing mark; however yesterday it did reach into the 40's according to Ray's Weather website. We spoke with our "mountain mom" Helen a day or so ago and she had at least 17 inches of the cold white stuff and our neighbor at the cabin, Gerald sent us a couple snow pictures. It sure looked beautiful from here in sunny Florida but that is just another reason for being only there during the spring, summer and fall.
My day was another one that still has me in pain from this back while it's not as severe and sharp as it once was it's still a dull and constant ach. I made another appointment with the Spine Institute for another opinion and to see what I maybe facing in the future. I know I can't expect total pain relief but at least enough to where I can function again. I'm seeing the VA doctors next week as well as the chiropractor again as he has made the biggest reduction in the sharp excruciating pains. Yeow little did I think with all of my activities I would ever face such debilitating pain in the lower back and leg.
I did try to stay active as best I could with lots of walking around, hanging laundry on the clothesline, harvesting lettuce and sugar peas and sitting while reading instead of laying around flat on my back. The activity seems to help to a certain extent and with helping to keep that L5 joint loose. It seems from what I have learned so far the pain comes from the joint being immobile thus causing the sharp pains. I should have a better prognosis after seeing the x-rays from Thursday as the VA took several pictures of the back area.
Amy and all 3 of the kiddo's came after lunch as Ava was out of school. Grandma Nancy made Valentine cookies and let them decorate them. I got to hold Eliza for awhile and then played with her on the bed. She moves her head around following a toy and repeatly holds her head up and turns it when hearing your voice. She is growing like a weed. We picked up GG around 5:30 and headed over to Amy and Tyler's for supper. Amy had a pork roast, kielbasa, hot dogs in a sauerkraut base with smashed taters and I made a huge garden salad along with crusty bread, Yeow was that ever some good eatin'. There were cookies for dessert. We stayed and visited until after 8 before taking GG home.
Well after a hot shower and a ultra sound treatment on the back I headed in to watch Gold Rush and read a little before lights out at 11'ish. Tyler let me read the biography of Steve Jobs he had checked out from the library. Well what a successful looney toon he was if you can measure success with wealth. It's amazing a person with so much drive and intelligence could be so far out there from the mainstream. He definitely had a personality disorder and that could have come from being adopted. It is quite an interesting read and the author delves into his most intimate thoughts and occasions. He was a perfectionists and always though he was right in most all situations. It's a good read and very down to earth and of course his ideals are renown in this information age with Apple computers and Pixar movies, LATER
