Thursday Morning

Well Wednesday found us once again with a rather nice day after the front moved through the area on Wednesday. The humidity and temps dropped about 10 degrees which made for a pleasant morning and very nice evening. We still have the a/c on but it barely ran except during the early afternoon when Amy and Eliza Faye were here for their daily lunch routines. I actually sat out in the back yard after lunch and read for a couple of hours it was that nice.

I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out. I did my morning routines that started with a hot cup of green tea laced with some turmeric while I posted this ramble from the day before's activities. Afterwards I spent a few quiet moments with my Creator in humble thanksgiving and intercessory prayer and thoughts for those I know and love. I didn't hear from my sisters today about whether Paw Paw got into the ALF and how he was doing. All of the sisters still work and have a family and some are quite a distance from him. We spoke with our "mountain mom" Helen and they have finally got some good soaking rain for the past couple of days and the temps were up close to 50 during the day. She and Paw Paw are about the same age and while he has had his issues she is relatively healthy and still on her own. Today is his 89th birthday and he has lived the longest of anyone ever in our family whereas her dad was 101 and her mom was close to 100 when they passed, so she comes from good genes for longevity.

I got in a good almost two hour workout at the rec on the pickle ball court and left with a good sweat. Afterwards I headed home to hang a load of laundry on the clothesline that Nancy has washed before heading for one of her doctors appointments. I then hand watered the gardens and then later on after lunch transplanted some romaine lettuce seedlings into the ground. The dang squirrels once again broke off a couple limbs of one of my tomato plants as they run through the garden to reach the back fence. That is the second time this one plant has been broken off that had green tomato's set, so I filled up the BB gun and then sat outside reading with the gun handy. I did scare several away from the back yard and now all I have to do is open the back door and they scamper up the tree or leave the yard. They are such a nuisance and just breed continuously.

I finished another Ken Follett book titled A DANGEROUS FORTUNE and have now started THE PILLARS OF THE EARTH. He is such a great writer and his material is well investigated and is presented in such an interesting manner. The only criticism is the books are so long and one were you have to read every word or you will miss some pertinent information relating to the scenes, oh well. He has several books and I'm now on only his fifth story and most of them are historical novels. Amy and Eliza came for lunch and afterwards they made a batch of Christmas cookies to add to the ones already in the freezer. Nancy gives out cookies to the postman and all of our neighbors every year as well as family. So far I've only eaten one of the cookies the kiddos made last weekend. Freezing the cookies helps to keep them fresh and makes it easy instead of spending two whole days of baking.

We had a rather large lunch with now I enjoy as our main meal and just a fresh garden salad for supper. We did get in a nice bike ride through the hood after Amy and Eliza left to pick up the kiddos from school. We did learn yesterday that Sam does need glasses after his eye appointment. He has the same script that Amy has with her eyes. I'm curious as to how he will do with wearing them as he is rough and tumble when playing with his sisters, oh well. After the supper clean up Nancy took some cookies over to visit her sister Betsy at GG's house. She is staying there while she recovers from her hip operation. Well I watched the Fox Cable News channel and this new guy Tucker Carson is a hoot and asks some very poignant questions to those whose who spew pablum in favor of the liberals and the secular progressives. He is much like O'Reilly and will probably take his place in years to come with his in depth questioning.

President elect Trump is still making headlines and he hasn't been swore in yet. He has done more for America in a month than Obama every did in nearly 8 years and all of what he has done is to benefit the country whereas Obama has denigrated the working man and given everything away in the form of welfare. The statistics of the welfare from the state of New York is unbelievable as 80% of the population is on some form of government assistance. It's no wonder the state voted heavily for Clinton as she would have continued this program to garner their votes. The democraps want the masses to depend on the Fed's like Calif. and N.Y.  It's an absolute disgrace those who are dependent on welfare instead of working. The fraud and corruption in the system is rampant in those states and Trump will have his hands full making any kind of difference with the liberal mayor of the city of New York and governor of that state, LATER
