Saturday Morning

Well Friday was another busy work day that started around a 6'ish roll out for me. After my usual morning routines and a few quiet moments I headed out to do a walk around the yards and gardens. There wasn't as many slugs this AM because we had no rain the night before but I still managed to find a dozen or so and quickly dispatched them with my boot. I decided after a lite breakfast of watermelon to tackle the black mildew residue on the deck side of the cabin with bleach. Well the finished results make the cabin look as if I just stained it but what a job while on a ladder 15 feet or so up plus the 10-12 feet off the ground on the deck. Wow do things ever look small down below. I managed to use a roller on an extended pole to reach the very high peak of the fascia boards which was another 10 feet higher up, oh well. I use to use neighbor Gerald's scaffolding but he no longer has it. Seems that might be my next investment.

We took off after lunch over to Helen's brother Joe's place to dig up some red and black berry bushes that had spread from the ones he had set out last year. They really spread out with runners and hopefully we will get them started at our place from his original settings. We transplanted 12 seedlings which were a foot in height or better. We stopped off at Helen's on the way home and did a few small chores for her before heading back to the cabin. It was after 3 o'clock and we decided to get our hike for the day in before supper. We saw Sarah with her 2 grand daughters ages 8 and 6 on the hike and they looked as if they were about to give out from the hike. There wasn't much going on as most places looked lonely and abandoned. The view down off the mountain was splendid and breeze made for great hiking despite the temps near 80 degrees. What a difference in the shade of the trees as we hiked on the back road.

We headed back down and got a nice long phone call from son, Bobby and then decided to have one of our favorite dishes for supper; fried tater's and onions as well as fresh broccoli, yikes what a tasty dish and one that I grew with on the farm as we raised several bushels of taters each year, usually enough that we often sold some as well. After supper and the cleanup neighbor Shirley and her mother Ruby came by on their golf cart and visited until after 9. I piddled around outside burning trash, transplanting some onion seedlings and hoeing in the garden until it was too dark to see out.

I tuned into some boxing after the neighbors left while Nancy did the social media bit and then it was shower time for me and a chapter of FROZEN IN TIME before lights out a little after 11, LATER
