Saturday Morning Apr.4th

Well Friday was another gorgeous day here in central Florida near the Gulf of Mexico. We are about 5 miles as the "crow flies" to the water and one where we haven't visited in quite some time. We can't go now because the beaches, parks, eateries and just about everything else is closed to this insidious virus that has permeated America.

I started the day much the usual with a 6 ish rollout to my cup of hot green tea which the water is now heated in a sauce pan as the over the stove microwave has "bit the dust". It's 11 years old so I did get my use out of it as we used it more than the stove, especially in the morning for heating the hot water for my cup of green tea laced with turmeric while I posted this ramble and then did some quiet time with my Creator and Lord. The list is long for those who I lift up daily for comfort, healing, safety from the virus and for miracles if GOD will bless us once again. At this time most all seem as well as can be expected due to ages and prior health issues. Our nation is still gaining more and more cases of this infection due to more testing but more folks are beating it than giving in to it in death. Any deaths are too many but it seems as if these new medicines maybe the turning point in getting a handle on combating the virus. We can only hope and pray that GOD will give us the tools and the will to fight this pandemic.

I spent the day outside once again which was almost another perfect day. The only thing missing is some much needed rain for the yards and gardens. I'm so blessed to have a shallow well that I use constantly. I did my good deed of the day by helping widow Carol next door who is a tough gal, very opinionated but a liberal when it comes to politics. I'm really surprised as we get into some heated debates because she is a worker and works hard to keep the house hold with a millennial son who only wants to play on some computer games network. He tried to mow the yard which she forced him to do but left the oil cap off the mower and it blew oil all over the manifold causing it to smoke. I saw him quit mowing and ask what had happened and he mentioned the oil cap was off. Anyhow he then filled the crankcase to over flowing with oil and it made so much smoke and caused oil to drip from the carburetor. I had him let it sit for a day and then we drained the mower and put fresh oil and it did smoke at first but eventually cleared up and he was able to finish mowing the next day. Anyhow she was thrilled I saved the mower for her.

I decided to take out the vines on her side of my fence which she hated as they at times hung over on her side. I planted these vines the year I retired as they were a gift. They did cause Ava and Amy much work in the summer when we are gone and the rains make them grow out of control. I have one big vine to cut down but I'll wait until birds nest is empty of some beautiful eggs that need to be  hatched. I worked in the yards pulling weeds and then we decided to clean up the table and chairs in back yard as well as wash down some walls and screens and windows. It was a full day outside for me. I transplanted some marigolds that I had sowed the seeds into the ground when transplanting some volunteer tomato's in the garden. I planted several along the fence where the vines once lived.

I pulled a couple cukes and then found some small green worms on several of the leaves. I smashed them between my fingers and left the residue on the vines hoping that would deter any further worm damage. I once read that if you spray the leaves with worms that had been blended that would deter any further infestations; of course Nancy said no to the blender, so I just smash the worms and leave them on the leaves. We ate leftover for supper and then headed out on a good 4-5 mile ride through the hood as it was another perfect evening and by 9'ish I was ready for the hot shower. I'm not getting in any pickle ball but staying on my feet all day, piddling around in the yards and gardens may be having as much good effect as playing for a couple hours then sort of resting the rest of the day. After a hot shower I watched an hour or so of Nat. Geo then it was lights out for me around 10'ish, LATER
