Monday Morning

Well Sunday was a good day of worship at Cornerstone, lunch out at a new venue which offered a brunch buffet and then neighbors Russ and Linda came up for a visit and Russ helped me put together the gas grille which was a bit complicated and definitely needed two extra hands at times. We got a nice rain shower during the afternoon which cooled things down so much Nancy had to put on a sweat shirt.

The day started with cloudy overcast conditions as we had received some rain late the evening before to almost a half inch. I was awake before 6 which is becoming so routine for me. I fixed my cup of hot turmeric drink, did my quiet time to honor my Creator, posted this ramble and then headed out to check on the gardens after donning my gum boots. I told someone the other day these boots have been along with my golf cart two of my best purchases ever for use here at the cabin. The grass is always wet in the mornings so I keep my feet dry and not worry about drying out shoes and socks.

I noticed I have a bush bean sprout pushing through the soil as well as several Zinnias seedlings in the circle drive flower bed I just recently rotor tilled. The seeds I had started in wet paper towels have sprouted so I transplanted a couple dozen okra's into 9 packs last evening and now today(Mon.) I will put the sprouted radishes in the ground. The sugar peas are showing a few sprouts as well and I hope to move them from the paper towels into 9 pack container as well before putting them in the ground. The ground is almost to wet to work in as the clay soil really packs down when wet.

I was dreading the job of Nancy and I putting together this large Brinkman 4 burner gas grill with a side burner but as we started after getting home from church and lunch out our Ohio neighbors came by on their John Deere gator. Russ has been installing heating and a/c furnaces the past couple of years so he was aware of how these intricate parts go together. I was having trouble just reading the directions as I think company's get a thrill on making the directions so complicated or having some kid write them, oh well its complete and sitting on the back porch. I just need a new battery so as to get the ignitor to work. Now I'm waiting on the tv stand to arrive which will be another put together job and probably a fiasco trying to understand the directions, oh well. It reminds me of the days when we had to put together kids Christmas toys.

The brunch we had at the old River Rock Grill which has reopened as the Tavern 21 was very tasty. There was all the breakfast fixin's as well as fried chicken, barbecue ribs and another pork meat as well as a salad, potato skins, spinach pastries, quiche, fruit and then a dessert tray with all kinds of pastries and cheesecake. I stayed away from the fattening dessert but did have the ribs which melted in your mouth as well as the skins, spinach pastry and potato salad and regular salad. It was a little pricey for this town at 10.50 bucks a person but was very tasty and you could eat your fill. I skipped supper at home with just some popcorn later in the evening. I would eat there again as it has now become popular for the after church crowd. We saw some old friends as well as many church folks eating there.

We made a grocery stop for a few items before heading home to dark rain clouds and encountered some rain on the way into the cabin. It would rain a few minutes then the sun would come out and this was the pattern for the rest of the afternoon until nearly dusk. Well after the neighbors left which was close to 6 'ish I headed down to transplant the seedlings that had sprouted and Nancy headed out to pull some weeds from the flower beds. We stayed outside until nearly dark before heading in to have some pop corn and a hot chocolate for me. It wasn't long after a hot shower that I was nodding off and headed for some horizontal lab just before 10'ish, LATER
