Tuesday Morning

Well Monday turned out once again, after a chilly start of the high 40's to be a beautiful day that reached the high 60's. We had tons of sunshine and even a slight breeze which eventually helped with drying out the heavy dew on the grass from the night before. I was able to give the yards a coat of pelletized lime which should help with the fertilizer I'm going to apply as soon as our company leaves week after next. This fertilizer is all organic and is basically dried chicken manure that has been kiln dried and pelletized as well. I headed over to Virginia yesterday afternoon and picked up several bags of both to give the yards a boost and hopefully lessen the existence of the moss that continually loves my yards. I'm not in favor of using chemicals to rid the pesky stuff as I'm afraid it could work itself into the aquifer and contaminate our delicious well water.

I was up to start the day at my usual 6 ish time frame and after a few quiet moments to give thanks and a cup of hot green tea I posted this ramble before Nancy awakened. We decided to have one of our favorite mountains breakfasts of buckwheat cakes with a ripe banana in the batter. It's been awhile since we last had any as this specific Cherokee mix is quite difficult to find. I had a tall stack slathered with Amish butter and home grown honey, yeow and that really held me for most of the day except for small salad for lunch. I piddled around down in the woods gathering up some caches of lighter knot or as Joe Browning calls it "fat wood". This is petrified pine knots that smell like turpentine and will start a fire in just seconds with a match. The problem with gathering it in the wild is you have to split it into small slivers for it to light on fire. I just so happen to have a nice stump about knee level near my fire circle which is great for splitting the wood so I gathered a couple 5 gallon buckets of the knots and carried them to my stump for splitting.

We took off on our daily hike to the top of the mountain just before lunch. We stopped and chatted with Troy who is the youngest son our our old mountain buddy Norm who passed last year and is temporary staying at Norm's cabin. We also visited with Joe and Jetta for a few before heading back down the mountain. We notice more color each day in the leaves as they change before falling to the ground to end this season. The backwoods yard is really starting to see a bundle of these leaves as they spiral to their final resting place. Depending on the type and shape of the leaves some of them really put on a show as they whirlybird to the ground, especially the frilly Oak leaves. I have used the leaf blower already to clear the driveway as a huge cucumber tree with it's huge dinner plate size leaves quickly covers the road.

Well we decided to have spaghetti for supper as we had some leftover sauce from an earlier time and it was delicious plus I wanted to defrost the old fridge/freezer in the basement and the container was odd in shape and took up too much room. I spent an hour or more on that chore plus it will be easier on cleaning the old Kelvinator fridge when we shut down the cabin for the winter. This old fridge is probably as old as I am but it works great except for the defrosting procedure plus it's down in the basement and no one sees it. I give it a coat of paint every couple years to keep it somewhat from being an eyesore.

Well I tuned into the baseball playoff games and I see the Royals survived being eliminated by the Astros and the Cubs came back to go up 2-1 against the mighty Cardinals. They(Cards) were the best team in baseball with all of their wins this past season and the Jays came back as well and staved off elimination by the Texans with their long balls(home runs). The Jays won the division the Rays are in and so I'm pulling for them in a sort of weird way which says our league is good despite them winning out over my team, oh well!!! We did manage to watch O'Reilly in between innings and once more Bill brings out the best in journalism and telling the truth about this incompetent administration and Waters World really shows us how dumb Americans have become and their lack of interest in what is becoming of our nation. It's a poor showing of our people and is a reflection of our education system and the far left's ability to destroy competence and morality.

Wow a supersonic jet just went over the cabin at tree top level and what an awesome sound and projection of a mighty force by our Air Force; if only we had some leadership our military would take care of these radicals who behead, rape and pillage innocents throughout the world. I know he was elected twice but that tells me what an incompetent electorate we have become as portrayed in Waters World. The left is succeeding in their mission to destroy us from within. Wow another two jets just flew over and if I was the enemy I would be quaking in my boots at just the sound of these jets, LATER
